Mental Midgets Posing As Intellectual Giants

Posted on April 3, 2011 at 11:58am 11 Comments

I posted several articles here, 5 to be exact, and left the web site because quite frankly I was laughed at. The people doing that laughing were, in my opinion, mental midgets posing as intellectual giants and I realized that this wasn't the site for me.

A simple high school experiment seems to drive my point home. The images attached to that experiment are below but I want to say just a bit more.

Do Flu Shots Prevent The Flu?

Posted on August 6, 2009 at 10:07pm 3 Comments

Not in babies: In a review of more than 51 studies involving more than 294,000 children it was found there was "no evidence that injecting children 6-24 months of age with a flu shot was any more effective than placebo. In children over 2 years, it was only effective 33 percent of the time in preventing the flu. Reference: "Vaccines for preventing influenza in healthy children." The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. 2 (2008).

Why Should I Throw Out My Microwave?

Posted on August 6, 2009 at 6:48pm 19 Comments

In short, microwaves distort the moleclular structure of the foods. They destroy much of the nutrients and cause many other problems with the immune system over a period of time. If you love your family read this and take the extra couple of minutes to heat the food up the right way.

The Proven Dangers of Microwaves

Superfoods! (How To Eat Like A King On A Paupers Budget)

Posted on August 2, 2009 at 10:00pm 0 Comments

People often complain about meeting dietary needs on a limited budget. I live on a very limited budget but honestly, I never complain. It doesn't help, it's unproductive, and I have no need to complain.

By doing a little research, let's call it 'diet due diligence,' I've managed to get all of the essential amino acids, high quality protein, carbohydrates, necessary fats, fiber and minerals on well under $200 a month for 2 people while maintaining a varied and interestingly healthful… Continue

You might like Ben Goldacre's book Bad Pharma. Not an organic food person myself, but I'll go where the evidence leads if the hypothesis in question is operationally definable and the data incontrovertible. By the way, Mental Midgets Posing as Intellectual Giants would be a great name for a rock group. "If I have seen no further than others, it is because I have stood on the shoulders of midgets."

Damn that you? Far out! Yep...the more critical thinkers I find....the more critical thinkers I find...including a few who are unwilling or afraid, using their true identity, to speak out against religious dogma because of certain social or business ramifications. I don't spend much time here because some of the conversations amount to preaching to the choir and the amens are "you got that right"....meaning bor-ing.
But I have met a few really interesting folks and I am gratified that the tsunami of the Christian effort in the United States is finally subsiding...that there are those who are willing to speak out against the kind of thought process, the mind set, that leads to blind faith or blinded allegiance.

Or numbers are growing, I think, because of the realization that we have a fairly substantial base...numbers that gives a certain security to those who have stood in the closet with the door ajar...too insecure to step out unless greeted by others with open arms and support.
