My niece, a fellow freethinker and current Owens student, has a bunch of like-minded friends some of whom might be interested in attending a college freethinker's group. How can I get you two together? Do you have an email I can give her?
Ya, it does seem kind of strange at first, but the Unitarians accept people of all faiths, including those who don't have a faith at all. It's about having a community that cares about human beings regardless of their silly dogmas. The adult discussion group has evolved into a group of atheists/agnostics, mostly educated professionals (of course). We discuss the things you are not suppose to talk about, ...politics, religion, social justice... I'd like to see us build a large community of freethinkers in this country so we can take on the religious right and get America back on track.
You might want to check out the adult discussion group at the Maumee Valley Unitarian Universalists Congregation on Route 25 towards Perrysburg. We meet at 10 AM Sunday mornings, an hour before the regular service, and cure the world's woes. There are about a dozen or so regulars, all freethinkers.
