Why I became Atheist - knowledge can kill

Posted on July 7, 2011 at 7:30am 0 Comments

After receiving my master’s degree in business, I decided that finally it was time to accept my calling become pastor and save the world one soul at time. (Doctorate in African studies and Religion) Now before increasing my already out of control student loan bill, I decided to first see why other religions and or cultures did not like Christianity what was wrong with three GODS IN ONE I believed in.

Yeah, I am fairly well versed in the Bible, as well.  Due to my short lived Pentecostal background.  lol.

For me, I try not to ever get on a topic of religion with any religious person.  I have Muslim and Christian friends.  When talking to a Christian friend, I cannot even discuss the Bible.  If I try to offer any historical facts, or any Biblical texts to validate my standing.  They begin to get angry.  Every time!!!   If not angry, the become extemely aggressive, and I don't have that to do.  Not when it comes to religion.  Not anymore anyway.

Almost 98% of my friends are Christian.  And devout ones at that.  One of my besties is a minister!  We talk about everything but religion.  Tho, they throw in religious analogies, here and there.  But, I just don't pay it much mind.  lol.

When I say I prefer to work with those who have dropped religion like it's hot, I mean this:  When it comes to bettering oneself, I prefer to deal with a person who will not be offended when I say " u control your life".  I don't want to have the debate over Jesus and his divine plan, yada yada yada...

Yep, Joe.  You are right!  I will work with those who have dropped religion like it's hot!!!  Leave it to the more patient ones, I guess, to work with the church folks.  I find it hard to stomach fairy tales at 43.

Hi Joe, and welcome to this wonderful world of Internet atheism----a haven from the superstitious nonsense of the fictional god of the masses.

We invite you to make good friends by joining the busy group "ORIGINS: Universe, Astronomy, Life, Earth, Humans, Religion, Evolution, Darwin..." with its 400 discussion topics and 2400 members.
