"No problem.  I see it happen a lot.  I think that the auto-fill function that a lot of people rely upon misinterprets that field, and people don't catch it when they're filling out their profiles."

Atheist Humor

This is the place to post that hilarious irreligious YouTube video, an irreverent, anti-religious cartoon, or other humorous bit of media. Posts that do not reflect an atheist/irreligious theme will be deleted. (Don't make me go Old Testament.)See More

About Me:
Baby Boomer, Democrat, patriotic American. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) never married & no children, but love children and good people and care about those who are struggling with difficult challenges.
Never truly believed in a god(s) even when I was young and squeezed my eyes closed tightly in church to try to make myself believe. Believe that religion is based on fear of the unknown, wishful thinking and superstition and that we should not have to prove that "god(s)" don't exist when there is no evidence that they do. I also believe that religion has nothing to do with whether people do good things or bad things in the course of their lives. Joined the “Freedom From Religion Foundation” in 2015. Have read several books already on the subject of religion and atheism/non-theism.
An avid follower of politics and donate (when I can afford it) to organizations with values that align closely with the values of the Democratic party.
An animal lover, and I care about protecting the environment and Planet Earth as much as is reasonably possible, and that urgent steps need to be taken to halt further damage, and to prepare for the damage that is, and soon will be occurring as a result of climate change.
Guilty Pleasure: Watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette. Favorite BBC Production: Pride & Prejudice. Love classical & popular music. Live with and really love the company of two cool cats.

Hello, Karen, happy to have you join us at Atheist Nexus.  We have some excellent political reading material that members bring to our attention. I feel as though we have a good source of excellent reporting by seeking out those who don't propagate propaganda. You appear to share many of the values that predominate here.

A good place to start is "Hang with Friends".

Cat lovers go to "Atheist Ailurophiles"

For concerns about the climate, Climate Concerns

A fun one that has been going strong is Quotation Of The Day

You can find many other groups by clicking on "Groups" and look at the titles. When you find something of interest to you, click on the title and see what is available there.

Forum have a list of categories and you may find something there of interest.

Welcome to the site, though.  :-)  The rest of the welcoming committee should be along shortly.
