Hey Kevin,
I can't believe that we were both at the Shermer lecture and didn't get to see each other. It was kind of a messy set up for finding people you might be looking for. Let me know if you will be at any other events. Even in the Springs. I would travel down there. Hope to meet you someday.

Don't worry about not getting back to me quickly. I'm the same way. And I was on here for awhile before knew to look for comments. I am used to getting notified on my phone or on fbook too. Hey tell me about Drinking Skeptically. I looked on for a group in my area and of course, there were plenty of groups in Denver, Boulder and Ft. Collins but nothing outside of those areas. Not in Steamboat. So I started my own. Which is not like me. I am not a "joiner" nor am I a "starter". I scheduled a January meetup with no members hoping there would be some by the time the "meetup" took place. Am I a dork or what? HUGE! Anyway... one dude has joined. I've seen this Drinking Skeptically. Is it just a group in the Springs or is it like, a thing? Like a common group that gets together in different towns. Because that's really all I wanted to do. Was to create a group of similar minded people who can get together once a month to drink a few beers and hang out. Anything you know to help me get my dorky little group off the ground would be cool. Thanks for telling me about your evangelical history. Do you think you were born this way? Born to doubt?

Hi Kevin,
You're welcome (for the add). It was nice to hear from you. Left the church, huh? Were you evangelical? And for how long? How courageous! Amazingly courageous! It must feel pretty isolating though. I feel isolated and "alone" in my thoughts/beliefs often. It sucks. Atheist Nexus has really helped. Tell your friend that if you think it would help. He may have a preconceived notion of what an "atheist" is. I've found that there are many atheists on this site and just in general that I don't have much in common with. The one's who like to say "reasons greetings", the ones who pick apart other atheists... Newsflash... we're not all alike. Not even remotely alike. But that's also one of the cool things. I went to the AAI confenence in Burbank this past October (more credit card debt) and really loved it. So many brilliant scientists and philosophers and writers. And SO many different types of atheists! Interesting group. I met a couple real assholes actually. But I also met some fascinating and down-to-earth people with whom I am in contact. So, tell your friend it helps to connect. And I really do applaud you for leaving something that wasn't a fit for you and for joining a group that maybe you were uncertain about. I don't know a lot of people on here but I think it's one of those you get out of it what you put in (time, posts) kind of things. Stay in touch! And tell your friend he has a ready-made friend on waiting!
