A Transcendent Being Cannot Be Omnipresent
1. If God exists, then he is transcendent (i.e., outside space and time).
2. If God exists, he is omnipresent.
3. To be transcendent, a being cannot exist anywhere in space.
4. To be omnipresent, a being must exist everywhere in space.
5. Hence it is impossible for a transcendent being to be omnipresent.
6. Therefore, it is impossible for God to exist.

A Perfect Creator Cannot Exist
1. If God exists, then he is perfect.
2. If God exists, then he is the creator of the universe.
3. If a being is perfect, then whatever he creates must be perfect.
4. But the universe is not perfect.
5. Therefore, it is impossible for a perfect being to be the creator of the
6. Hence, it is impossible for God to exist.

Why would a perfect God create a universe in which such huge amounts of suffering occur, when such suffering does not bring into existence any of the goods required to absorb the suffering and make the situation on balance a good one?

Hello Krish.

Welcome to this rational world of Internet atheism---a haven from the superstitions and fictional god of the masses.

"Thank science and true common sense for atheism."

We invite you to make good friends by joining the busy group "ORIGINS: Universe, Astronomy, Life, Earth, Humans, Religion, Gods, Atheism, Evolution, Darwin..." with its 444 discussion topics and 2500 members.

Hello, it's nice to meet you. I'm a 26 year old atheist and secular humanist.

I love reading science nooks as well. My favorite all time author is Carl Sagan. The Demon Haunted World is my favorite book. I also like the works of Richard Dawkins, Stephen Hawking, Carl Zimmer, Sam Harris, Jared Diamond and Michael Specter. I also love to watch lectures by Dan Dennett, Neil Degrasse Tyson, Vilayanur Subramanian Ramachandran, Steven Pinker, Victor Stenger and Ann Druyan.

I'm interested in cosmology/astrophysics, pharmacology and biology. My favorite branch of science is biology, as I know the most about it than other fields, I have always loved learning about animals and I find that having at least a rudimentary knowledge of biology enhances my daily life in so many innumerable ways. Currently, I work at a science museum in my city, where I encourage people to take audio tours to learn more about science and get them excited about it. I also get to answer science related questions for patrons. It's a very rewarding experience. My least favorite part of my jobs is when I have to sell pseudo-scientific merchandise and souvenirs to customers.

I hope to finish a biology degree in the next few years so I can teach and/or help do research. I'm also an artist and I draw cartoon animals on my free time. I hope to also be a freelance illustrator on the side while perusing a career in science. Art and science are both inseparable interests in my life. I hope to accomplish both as much as I can.

It's seems we have some things in common. I'd like to hear more about yourself.

Best wishes,
