"I think they are seeing a causative relationship where none exists. A bisexual person has no more control or ability to decide who he or she loves any more than gay people or heterosexual people do.  Bisexual people with opposite sex partners…"

Zombie Catpocalypse and the Fern of Doom *Starring* Rupert

Today I participated in a writing contest for which the prompt was to write about a photo I'd taken. It was no sweat deciding to use a photo of Rupert because he is such a camera ham and I have hundreds if not thousands of pictures of the little orange beastie. He lays on his back more than any other cat I've known and can stand upright for shockingly long periods of time. Anyway, my entry in the contest is the story of his valiant defense of my apartment.…See More

Taboo Against Discussing the Relationship of Religion to Homelessness Prevents Action

Posted on December 23, 2009 at 12:10pm 1 Comment

I have been a homelessness activist for some time. I've worked with lots of homeless people and I've been homeless myself. There's a taboo subject inside the realm of homelessness, one which can really cause people to flip out on you. That subject is the relationship of religion to teen and young adult homelessness.

A while back, I decided to slide it into one of my pages on homelessness in which I discuss causes of homelessness. Unsurprisingly, I had to moderate a number of comments… Continue

My Take on the Atheist Bus Ads

Posted on August 19, 2009 at 12:32pm 0 Comments

Atheists in America have been made to feel unwanted for many years and it hasn't gotten any better. As a result, many atheists still feel they need to stay in the closet.

As you probably already know a number of atheist and secular humanist groups have bought advertising space on billboards and buses in response to this trend.

You can read more and weigh in at Should Atheist Ads Be Allowed?

Ask An Atheist

Posted on June 19, 2009 at 11:36pm 2 Comments

Yeah, I know, it's been done before. But there are so many people out there with weird questions to ask atheists. But then again, a lot of them are just the same old questions over and over again.

I've answered a bunch in article format. To make the process more interactive, I made a Squidoo page with a duel section and a box where readers can ask questions. I've even answered some of those questions. However, I'm still working on the answer to the most recent one because I don't… Continue

What Evolution Isn't

Posted on June 6, 2009 at 2:08pm 4 Comments

I'm really sick of hearing people equate acceptance of evolution with atheism. It annoys me greatly when people insist this is an atheist country (I know, WTF?) because evolution is taught about in public schools.

So I created a page on Squidoo called "What Evolution Isn't" which attempts to explain that evolution is science, not a religion, not a belief system nor is it an evil plot to destroy religion.

What… Continue

My Squidoo Lenses Need Some Love

Posted on April 15, 2009 at 1:00pm 0 Comments

I started writing a lens on Squidoo to promote some of my atheist relevant web content but then I branched out from there to other topics.

If you want to help a starving atheist afford her meds next month, visit some of my Squidoo lenses. My rankings increase according to the number of views I get combined with the star ratings others give my pages. All of this adds up to about $12 per month for lenses that stay in the top two thousand on Squidoo.

So you can help the poor… Continue

Greetings, Kylyssa! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.
