Hello Michael Willard Bolinger here and just joined your group. I am the organizer of the Ft. Dodge Atheists, Humanists and Freethinkers. Been online for a year and I have not had anyone email me? I have had some problems with my site but it has been working most of the time. Question--I joined the Omaha Area Atheists and Agnostics run by Darrin Auxien and was wondering why another group rather than the one? Just curious. I too am a lifelong atheist and a retired auto assembly plant worker for 44 myears at the General Motors plant in Kansas City, Kansas but lived on the Missouri side. I was active in the Eupraxophy Group founded in 1987 and later renamed the Community of Reason. After retiring in May 2006 I moved to my wife's property in Gowrie, IA which is 25 miles southwest of Ft. Dodge. I have been going to monthly meetings of the Iowa Secularists in Des Moines about 65 miles away. They had a split and I went with the new group the Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers. Attended two Iowa Secularists Statewide meetings, set up books for the Planned Parenthood Booksale for two years and marched in the Gay Pride parade in 2008 with the Des Moines Atheists and Freethinkers. Eight of us came to Omaha to hear Richard Dawkins speak. My answe to the purpose of life is to live and participate in the activities of our communities and our world. There is enough to do to keep anyone busy and to play a positive role in our futures.
