Pope John Paul II's Failed Assassin Claims He Is Now Agca the Messiah

Posted on January 14, 2010 at 8:06pm 2 Comments

Mehmet Ali Agca is the Turkish gunman who shot but failed to assassinate Pope John Paul II in 1981. On January 18 2010 he is due to be released from his prison in Ankara.

"For around 30 years I have been staying in cells on my own. I experienced hell on earth. But in spite of everything I am well. I feel good in myself both physically and psychologically," he said. Many have questioned this self-diagnosis as Agca seems to be on a quest to anoint himself as the new… Continue

How to Make Some Money From Your Atheist Blog

Posted on August 6, 2009 at 4:30am 2 Comments

Blogs come and go, and atheist blogs are no different. However, there is one aspect of blogging on atheism, agnosticism and the whole family of faithlessness that has been bothering me for some time: how to make some money doing it? The first day takes place in the Basilica of Santa Croce, where Galileo is now buried, with the last day being held in the Villa "Il Gioello di Arcetri", where Galileo spent his last years. Today's Osservatore Romano has two articles… Continue

Atheism on the Rise Among Canadian Teens

Posted on April 10, 2009 at 4:11am 0 Comments

Project Teen Canada has been conducting surveys on the religious affiliations of teenagers since 1984. Its latest findings show that Canadians are becoming more polarised into believers and non-believers. The number of faithless has grown almost three-fold whereas Christians have dropped below 50% for the first time. There has also been a steep rise in believers of other faiths, although this is largely due to immigrants. One minor point is that the new data for 2008 only adds up to 93% rather… Continue
