"Wow. Read the psf, that's quite the religion you've got there. No more ridiculous than scientology or judeo-christianity, but no less either. The 'Big Bang' doesn't say anything exploded - the nickname was made up by…"
""The Bangers hypothesized it and see their hypothesis as both truth and evidence for further hypotheses."
Bert, read that as:
- Georges LeMaitre deduced from his math that he had proved the truth of Genesis,
- Millions of Xians rejoiced,
""...we don't really know about the time prior to t=1 second."

I was born in Ontario and spent 7 years as a post-doc in central Florida, so I know what you mean about the deep south. I have also been atheist since about age 6 - old enough to think critically. Glad to hear you made it back to Canada. I have tried a few times, but I pretty much stuck in Kansas. Fully tenured now, so its hard to give up the job security. Best of luck with your grad program.
Hi Sara! As well as hosting the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.
I wonder if you could let your members know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.
Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.
Anything you can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.
