don't take your work or worth too seriously

Posted on July 22, 2008 at 6:00pm 2 Comments

For a while now I have been totally freaking out about work. As is typical of my family I tend to obsess about certain items and my obsession is work.

Today however I found this quote from Bertrand Russell "One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important."

And you know I am going to print that out and put it over my desk. I need as many reminders as possible that I need to chill out, this is NOT the end of the… Continue

Hi Seven Crows! I'm Kris - I host the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.

I wonder if you could let your members know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.

Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.

Anything you can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.

Love the pictures! What's 'is name? We have a pitbull/lab mix who has a head much your dog's. From the side, though, he looks lab, from the front - pure pit. They're like dozers, aren't they? I know yours is very smart - ours is about the dumbest animal on earth - he has 2 tiny pea brains, one behind each eye. But he has the best heart you'll ever know. Guess I should join the pet group - I kind of feel like talking about him (and our Belgian Shepherd).

I was very excited to see someone from vermont on here -- I didn't notice any other vermonters! I go to school up in Middlebury, and ran a small atheist group for a little while, which will most likely die out while I'm studying abroad, but which I'm looking forward to revitalizing when I return. I'm going to try and get some pretty cool people to come up and speak at my school. Have you ever heard of Camp Quest? It's a summer camp for young atheists, agnostics, etc, and they have a few locations across the country but they're talking about starting one in VT, which would be the first one in New England. I'm very excited, I always wanted to volunteer at one of them! Anyway, let me know if you notice that any other vermonters gave joined, I'd love to see a more active vermont community!

Hey - where in VT are you from? There might be some cool stuff happening in VT in the near future (including a Camp Quest and some potentially cool speakers).
