"Michael, I appreciate the commentaries you provide us. Clearly, you read the bible, know people with fundamentalist faith and who trust the words of modern preachers basing their sermons and lessons on the ancient books of goat herders. Thanks!"

"I was joking with my "scapegoat Jesus" example above, but there is one thing bible believers do not understand. They find scriptures that seem to relate to the destruction of the temple in 70 AD and use this as a proof of prophesy. What it…"

"Of course mirror passages from the old testament were very much a template for the new. Take a old story rework it in an obvious manner, then call it a prophesy. That is why to this day many Christians believe that the old testament was not actually…"

Is there a link between hedonism and monogamy?

K: Is there a link between hedonism and monogamy?

W: Yes I think there is such a link. As beings designed to experience pleasure/pain, we are also designed to experience them in mostly set and specific ways. There is some natural deviation, but around some core points.

As far as monogamy goes, perhaps the best explanation I heard (though it might need fact checking) was that in primates, genital size is correlated with promiscuity. A gorilla has a relatively small sized… Continue

Bridge to Organicism

As we have previously discussed, there is a continuum of objectivity and subjectivity regarding values, with nihilism (nothing at all matters in any absolute or purely objective sense) on one end and hedonism (values are entirely relative and completely dependent on subjective experience) on the other. The entire continuum must be entertained at once to have a comprehensive understanding of values. But it would appear that only the extreme ends of the continuum… Continue
