I can imagine.  Greenville is borderline rural, isn't it?  There's the university itself, but ECU isn't particularly liberal, as far as universities go, is it?

My sister went there for her nursing classes, but I know almost nothing about it, besides it being one of the country's biggest party schools.  There might be an atheist/secular club through the university, and they might have connections with any other local groups.  I don't know.

We have a bunch of kids that come to the Sunday Assembly thing, which just started in January.  I think that the kid of one of the organizers is 3.  That's way over on the west side of the Triangle, though, as are most of the groups' activities.  Even the near side of the Triangle is pretty freaking far for you to drive, unless it was a major event, like Dawkins stopping off again, for one of his book tours.

Hmm, I'm not sure how active the Greenville group is.  Have you checked out meetup.com, yet?  There has to be a group somewhere out that way, on Meetup.  I'm not aware of any off-Meetup groups around there.  The Triangle is a bit better populated, and we have some fairly active groups like the Triangle Freethought Society, which is our politically active group that lobbies politicians and puts up billboards and such.
