jay H commented on Alan Perlman's blog post On the rhetoric of The Donald and the stupidest thing he’s ever said – so far
"I must say you've probably nailed it in a lot of ways. It's too bad that his ideal are so shallow, because the one thing he has that is lacking in the field, is the willingness to say something and stick with it. Compare that with…"

jay H replied to Ruth Anthony-Gardner's discussion Corporate Warfare on Citizen Activists
"We are far from a free market, rather it' s a form of crony capitalism. Corporate welfare takes many forms including bailouts (banks, GM, Chrysler--by both Bush and Obama), tax breaks, 'incentives', extensive business regulations…"

jay H replied to Dr. Allan H. Clark's discussion Liberalism = Socialism = Communism = Atheism
"It's mistake to associate this binary thinking just with religion, it infuses political thought both left and right. Before agreeing disagreeing with anything, many people look at the political label of the person doing the speaking. While…"

I have a T shirt with "Copenhagen Fantasy Camp", and pictures of Bohr and Heisenberg (and an equation with Planck's constant as a hint). No one has ever seemed to notice it, even thought I've worn it to quite a few places including university campuses. Finally today, a vendor at a flea market got the joke. Surprise.[Made me think of the "Big Bang" where Sheldon populates his team for a physics challenge with people he is certain won't know the answers (or even understand English). He didn't…See More

jay H replied to matthew greenberg's discussion the problem - American Anti-Intellectualism

Michael Penn replied to jay H's discussion Philosopher: Logic is racist

About Me:
I'm an old coot, raised JW, became sceptical then outrightly disbelieving many years ago.

Politically (after years of wandering through philosophies-du-jour), I'm strongly pro-individual freedom, pro-market, to the discomfort of both my liberal and conservative friends.

Day job is computer administration for a large corporation. Off hours I like anything with machines and tools.

We live in a society of generalities: not all cyclists are rednecks and vice versa. No offense intended.

Nice looking dog you have! "Securing" a dog is a concern. Previous dogs have stayed outdoors ALL the time, never running away . But I live out in the country. Free roaming is my preference, but the H.S. doesn't like to hear that. I'm losing sleep trying to come up with an alternative.

Hello Jay
Welcome to this world of rationality, truth and peace, where common sense and science lead to freethinking wisdom --- as you know well because of your long time atheism.

We invite you to make good friends by joining the busy group "ORIGINS: Universe, Astronomy, Life, Earth, Humans, Religion, Gods, Atheism, Evolution, Darwin..." with nearly 700 discussion topics and over 3400 members.

Welcome, jay! Glad you could join us. :D

Please consider joining a group to meet people and talk about anything that's on your mind, Hang With Friends. After you've searched for stuff that interests you in "Groups" above and in the "Forums", don't forget to look at recent activity which hides along the right margin of the page all the way at the bottom.
