I'm in awe. Great speakers.. looked to the right - looked to the left and saw like minded people. The Reason Rally was an historic event and I was there.
I'm not as inspired by this blackberry playbook. I deleted my last blog on Thursday and had to repeat it. Then accidentally said I liked my own blog and sent out one or more requests. Can't wait to use a real keyboard and mouse tomorrow.
“Surely the day will come when color means nothing more than the skin tone, when religion is seen uniquely as a way to speak one's soul; when birth places have the weight of a throw of the dice and all men are…Continue

Just a short emotion hopefully not too trivial
Occasionally during his lectures on the existence of god, Ravi Zacharias stops and excuses himself for not bringing a power point along with him. He smiles and says that he is "technologically challenged". Then he goes like the following: "He gave me the power to make the point". I have some reasons to assume that whatever he is telling to be the prove of the existence of god, the people in the auditorium will most likely remember his…Continue
This morning I noticed a stage being set up at the Mall in Washington and excitedly wondered - Is that for us? I asked one of the workers what was going on and he told me this was for a bunch of Atheists. Darn... My hope was to hear the classier name - The Reason Rally. My daughter asked me about this trip to Washington and I told her about the assault on the scientific method and reason and the need to separate church and state - and she got it.
Part of my family is…Continue
At Virginia Tech, on Wednesday evening March 21, there was a debate on the question "Does God Probably Exist?" I wanted to post comments on two of the arguments given.
One argument given was the "fine-tuning argument". One of the debaters was studying high-level academic philosophy, and they stated it thus:
Given the fine-tuning evidence, a life-permitting Universe (LPM) is very, very epistemically unlikely under the non-existence of a fine-tuner, and is not unlikely if a…

I do not usually share dumb Facebook stuff, but this just killed me...Some of the worst music album covers that you will ever see and most of them are religious in nature. Try to brace yourself first...these are bad!Continue

Hi all new post up: Christianity and Gay Marriage: A tale of Power, Control, and Relevancy
I appreciate all of your support and comments. Please leave your comments at the site though, I want to encourage discussion with non atheist nexus folks as well.
My latest blog post:Continue
The Mormons have again gotten into trouble for baptizing people after they were dead. The Mormons defend the practice because they feel it solves the theological problem of people who died before the one true faith (theirs) was founded being ineligible to attain Mormon salvation.
One the face of it, this is a generous offer. The faith I was raised in,…

Back in February I made the first post (Teaching Religious Mythology 1: Noah's Ark) of what I intend to be series on introducing different religious stories to kids and what resources are out there to help accomplish…Continue

I usually reserve posts on my personal blog for rants and ravings of mine, because I don't want to waste the times of all the social groups on here. This is no exception, it's another of my own personal rants.
I recently saw an episode of "Becker" in which Becker insists that God is a man-made construct and says that he doesn't believe in him. He is immediately chastised for his position by all of his peers and especially by Jake, the blind owner of a newstand at Becker's favorite…Continue
Hi all--I have been away for 10 days and have a lot reading to do to catch up on all your blogs. Hope all is well. My new blog is up here: The Christian Right: The Educated Need Not Apply
Really looking forward to the atheist rally

My paper on Thumos (Spirit) and how it can serve as the basis for human value, as opposed to Plato's theory of the Good as he presents it in the Symposium.
Symposium is perhaps Plato's best work, at least I found it so. It is Plato's attempt to describe Love, and through this to explain the Good. He first sets the scene of a group of 7 or so men meeting at one of their houses, when one of them comes up with a theme for the night's drinking - each of them…Continue
Now that Peyton Manning's headed for Denver, it may be a sign that Jesus-Tim Tebow relationship is cooling a little, but back towards the end of last season, this was the burning question.
The author is trying to avoid thinking about the entire football season this year, since both his favorite teams finished 8-8 and out of the playoffs, but it's hard to avoid hearing about born-again QB Tim Tebow. His latest …Continue
