Reason to be an atheist

Of course you don't become an atheist if you really believe in God. But if you logically have come to the conclusion that there is no god, should you still lie to yourself? I don't see what good it will do. On the contrary, a false belief in gods has several disadvantages. As an atheist:*.You don't have to believe the preachers on funerals when they tell you that your loved ones where sinful. (I found it extremely bothersome on my grandfather's funeral that the preacher talked about sin all the… Continue

Is God good at his job?

Let’s say you are God. Let’s say that several billion years after you created the universe, which you created solely for your finest creation, man, you’re first two creations let’s call them Adam and Eve disobeyed your only rule. So you condemned them and all their offspring to live and die in hardship. Then a few thousand years later you decide mankind as a whole is beyond saving, because among other things they have been worshipping other gods, and that makes you…

Evangelical doctrine #2 "supporting scriptures" GOD

The following is from

2.  God.  We believe there is no God but one:  the infinite Designer, Creator, and Sustainer of all existence in this or any universe--from eternity past to eternity future.  God’s nature is triune--three perfect and eternal persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--who are one, in being as well as in purpose.

Evangelical doctrine #1 "supporting scriptures"

Lets start with number one.

Looking at the "supporting" Scripture I see no way to claim that it is stating the bible as put to gather by the The First Council of Nicaea in 325 CE would be the final word. about 292 years or so after the events in the most recent stories in the book.

you know missing books from the Jewish…

I am a hypocrite and an offensive racist or so I have been told.

I'm a Racist

That is right I am a racist as I believe that women have equal rights.

I am a racist as i believe that we should not have special consideration for on campus religious rituals in public schools.

I am a racist as I do not think people should be allowed to have special access to services based on any other biases other than physical, mental or financial disability.

I am a racist as i find the idea of body mutilation preformed on babies or any one under the…

Upcoming Book Reviews

I never tried this before. Book Reviews--I have them. I've been doing it for years. However, I was paid to do them. So, I'm going to post some of them that venture into other areas besides atheism. Here's a list of the first I plan to put on the site.…

When I engage believers in conversation and they say, “You have to have faith to believe in god, I believe because I have Faith.” I answer them. Adam and Eve didn’t have faith. Cain and Abel didn’t have faith. Noah, Abraham, Lot, Moses, Aaron, Mary, and Jesus just to name a few, didn’t have faith. They actually heard god, spoke to god, and saw god, or some symbol of his presence, one even thought he was god. I suggest it was easy for them to believe in god, but it has never been easy for…

Not a Photon Falleth ...

In 1935, Einstein and two colleagues published a paper that set off what has become close to a century of theorizing and research about entanglement phenomena.

The paper came to be known as EPR from the initials of the last names of its authors – and while they may not…

The Man Who Thumbed His Nose at God

Cyrano de Bergerac: Boldest Atheist Ever!

Thanks for asking me to speak again. I gave a talk here just a couple of months ago on Omar Khayyam. Some time back I gave a talk featuring the great Greek materialist philosopher Democritus. I spoke too on Spinoza, also a…

Tolerance is not respect.

It never ceases to amaze me how people confuse ‘tolerance’ with ‘respect’. Respect is something which one earns through intellectual merits, whilst tolerance, thanks to genetic proclivities, is present in the average human being.

These delusional obscurantists have a tendency to make a wilful claim to my respect, without ever explaining how or what this respect entails.

Let me make myself clear: I respect nothing that has not proved itself deserving thereof. It does not matter…

St. Thomas Aquinas 5 Ways and other Flawed Apologetics

St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274 AD) wrote a specific series of works in Summa Theologica where he attempted to use logic alone to prove the existence of god. He came up with five arguments, or 'ways', that he felt could logically lead to that one conclusion. Of course, like all god claims, there is no evidence to support the claims, and his arguments have all been thoroughly debunked as containing serious logical flaws and presuppositions.

And yet modern…

Stop preaching Atheism

I have come to realize that I am annoying people. That in itself does not bother me. I have always been an odd duck, and not someone that many people found appealing. My best friends are similarly unique individuals who are also considered difficult to get along with by their contemporaries. But what I have recently realized is that my enthusiasm for challenging belief and promoting atheism has a very negative effect. It perpetuates a perception of…

Say NO to "Noah"

Back in the day, a trip to my grandparents' row home in South Philly, for Passover or the Jewish New Year, was preceded by a family movie in Center City.  The theaters were huge and ornate -- not at all like your bare-bones cineplex; the movies were usually Biblical and always accompanied by chocolate covered cherries.

Of course, we saw Charlton Heston as Moses.  I think Ben-Hur got sneaked in there, as well as Israeli-themed movies like the heart-rending Exodus,…

NASA and the End of Religious Fundamentalism

Back in the year 2000, I sent the following question to “Ask a NASA Scientist:”

Cosmologists seem to think of the big bang as a purely natural event. If that is indeed the assumption in cosmology, is it unreasonable to assume (from a purely scientific point of view) that the big…

Why Am I an Atheist?

Why am I an atheist? My answer is simple as the sun, as obvious as the nose on your face.

I came into the world an atheist. So did every one of you! Yes, every single infant born on Planet Earth is born an atheist. Atheist simply means "without theism." A, the Greek prefix ‘a’ means ‘without’ as in asexual - devoid of sexuality, as in asexual relationship. Atheism means without a notion of or a belief in gods.…

Religions: My New Definition: Hijackers Of Childhood/Atheistic Wonderment Of Everything For Dubious Agendas.

During our early childhood years as young Atheists (Implicit Atheism, no knowledge nor care about Gods) most of us had an overwhelming wonderment for absolutely everything, I spent my childhood examining everything I could find and wondered how it all worked and was related to myself, if given a present involving technology, within two days it would be in pieces as I investigated what made it move or make noises, blow air, etc....

This wonderment followed me into my early teens and…

Review--Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

It is nearly impossible to imagine that FOX News and Cosmos appear on the same network. It is difficult to believe that they are even on the same planet, but often ignorance and intelligence team up to become strange…

Atheism or Agnosticism?

A paper prepared for members of the Atheist/Agnostic Club at Rossmoor in Walnut Creek

We call ourselves the Atheist/Agnostic Club here at Rossmoor and sometimes we seem to sit on opposite sides of the aisle – atheists on one side, agnostics on another. I’m suggesting that we can all pull our chairs together and be one. I believe atheists and agnostics are not two separate and distinct philosophies but actually one and…
