More thoughts on my he said call yourself what you want blog. MY boss and I have a good work relationship. I have been with him for about 10 years and have had many talks about god with him. some more intence then that one. My intent was not too anger him, but I guess to help him see the total lack of logic in his beleif. You might say that I was trying to convert him as they do us.
Exciting and exhausting day at the Los Angeles Book Festival. There are at least 100,000 people who read in this great city. A few more are reading The God Virus or have already read it. We had a lot of Christians come by the booth today, none bought the book, but they all demonstrated their infection very effectively. I was at the Atheist United booth with some other great freethinkers. Got to meet Sikivu Hutchinson who wrote Moral Combat. Very fun day.

I asked my boss what he would say if I said I am GOD. he said, call your self what you want. Then I told him that he should bow down and pray to me when he needs help or strength and that he would get the same result from me as any other deity. You see he is a non denomanational christion that goes to church every sunday and hosts bible groups during the week. nun the less he was silant with no answer. what do you make of this
Looking for a talk-radio show that isn't afraid of the powers that be? That calls it as it is instead of what someone wants to spin it into? That stands up for truth and freedom and does it from an Atheist POV?
The show you're looking for - The Most Dangerous Show on the Net - is American Heathen, and it airs at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT TONIGHT on ShockNet Radio (simulcast on Freethought Radio (…
As a former Virginian, I’m all too aware of the asshatery that is Pat Robertson. I once lived a short distance from his colonial palace cum religious law school and occasionally saw some of his on-air “journalists” at the local Farm Fresh. I…
I just want to say, throughout this, I talk about mostly about the Christian religion since that is the one I researched the most.
So, lets cover the basics of religion. Now, I understand that people WAY back then would believe such things as a sun god, a moon god sky god etc. They didn't have modern science. So, they just made up certain stories. Many people from different cultures made up there own gods (well, Christians just picked certain things from other religions and…
First of all, hey guys! I haven't been on for awhile!
I just wanted to pop back in to my good old atheist community to express some concern over two trends I am noticing in some atheists.
The first is dogmatic atheism. I've gone 5 years never having to encounter a dogmatic atheist and suddenly I've met a couple recently. Atheism is NOT and can NOT be a positive claim. People claiming that there is definitely no god (apparently they exist) need to be confronted whenever…
Hey folks. Nothing major from this end, but I am working with a student on more writing and research on atheism and atheists -and the public perceptions of same, and I will start posting again some of our musings.
Updates? My course on the sociology of atheism did not get enough students enrolled last summer, so I had to shelve it. I was the moderator on a panel on the media treatment of atheism held on our campus earlier this month, and the headline panelist was none…
I remember being 8 years old, sitting in the back of my parents car with my face pressed against the window. I stared in astonishment at the full moon as it chased us. I strained to keep it in sight, catching glimpses of it between the buildings as we whizzed past. Enthralled, I started thinking about the Moon, about what it was and how it got there.
“What?” my mom said, apparently hearing me mumble.
hell is a place of suffering and punishment for those who do wrong, even tho as long as you are saved nothing u can do can get you in hell.
Someone who rapes and murders people every night for 20 years straight before getting caught and and put in prison for 20 years. he gets out after serving his time, but within 3 years he goes right back in for killing 10 people. Then this time he is given the death sentence will go to hell right? he will pay for his crime for what he did and will be… Continue
I live in a town in which around 95 percent of residents are of some sort of christian religious denomination. So, naturally, Jews, Muslims, and Atheists are virtually unheard of. In fact, I know of one other Atheist, but, I'm sure that the fear of being the same kind of outcast that myself and that other person are seen as is less than desirable, so, there's likely more. That, or, people tend to meet in church. It's not a "Religion is the supreme law of this town" thing, but churchgoers…

My partner just read up what is one of the more disturbing videos I think I have ever seen on YouTube. On it is recorded a violent assault against a transsexual woman in a McDonalds in Rosedale, MD. The video was shot by an employee who actually egged the attackers on as the assault progressed. Worthy of note, said employee is now looking for work. A bit of Googling yielded more than a couple hits regarding this incident. If you're curious, allow me to offer… Continue
I couldn't decide if my favourite was the shot of The Milky Way from beyond The Earth or the image of the Aurora - taken from what seems like inside the aurora!! or the sunset reflecting of The Caspian Sea.
Okay - that's my top 3 right there - but they are all of them absolutely awesome. Do your brain…
As most of us know in the Christen religion there are "7 deadly sins" which are "a gateway to hell". Just in case you don’t know these sins are greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, sloth, and pride. Pride is ignored the most, but why is it ignored, it has the same effect as wrath, killing people. Most Christens ignore this sin. The reason they do this is because pride… Continue
