Bigotry & Bathrooms

Growing up during the Jim Crow era introduced many to the virulent racism of the South. Negroes were not allowed to use the same bathrooms as whites. Now with the hysteria transgender bathroom use sweeping through the country it is not difficult to draw a parallel with blacks being banned from public facilities including bathrooms.

I've been gone for a while because of a car accident. Enough said. I thought I get back into the flow of things by bringing up a subject many in the United States are frightened by--SEX!

(The sign on the right is in a Kroger grocery store in Texas. It has been there for more than 15 years. The same exist in Macy's…

Worksheets from Florida Public School

A friend of mine (I'll call him D.B)  is a high school student at a public school in Florida. He's a believing Christian. In a recent conversation he aggressively asserted that he no longer believed evolution was valid having been persuaded by his teacher. He badly summarized the worksheets that persuaded him. The worksheets were given by his biology teacher to the students. I asked him to send me a few photographs. This is what he sent me. …

Faith Is Not Curious

“Faith is no reason.” That was the winning entry in the Center for Inquiry’s 2009 Blasphemy Contest and it’s been the headline to my Atheist Nexus profile page since I joined here. I think that faith and reason are antithetical qualities; they have nothing to do with each other and are effectively mutually exclusive by their very nature. Upon recent reflection, I realized that there are other positive qualities which are at odds with faith and which show it to be the false value which it is.…

Responses to "Prove there is no god

I ran across this post on Facebook from Ben Andrews on May 6, 2016. It offers a good, solid response to those who want proof there is no god!

"Proof there is no god?

"How often have we encountered the Theists, when you ask for proof that god exists demanding that you 'prove' that God does not exist, and then get in a discussion who has the burden of proof instead of answering the question…

Robert Greene Ingersoll quote,

Justice is the only worship.

Love is the only priest.

Ignorance is the only slavery.

Happiness is the only good.

The time to be happy is now,

The place to be happy is here,

The way to be happy is to make others so.

- Robert Greene Ingersoll

Any moron can believe in gods but it is more challenging to be Godless

How to Believe in God in Six Easy steps:
1. First, you must want to believe in God. That is simply because you love your parents and your parents told you that there is a God.

2. Next, understand that believing in God in the absence of evidence is…

Is Nothing Sacred?

Hmmm, good question. First thing we would need to do, I suppose, is define “sacred.” At least initially, I will defer to

  1. Devoted or dedicated to a deity or to some religious purpose; consecrated
  2. Entitled to veneration or religious respect by association with divinity or divine things; holy.

That second definition seems to be the most on-point here, but it also begs a question: what entitles anything “to veneration or religious…
