Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Referencing this article, does anyone else find this whole situation completely retarded? The supreme court judges are debating the wrong issue!

No one would object to participating in a health plan voluntarily. It is wrong to use force to coerce any one.

The Christians are right, but for the wrong reasons. Irony abounds.

And now we have…

Do Certain Usages of the English Language Foster Anthropomorphization of Plain old Reality?

I'm currently reading H.L. Mencken's The American Language. It just occurred to me that when the notion of gender is introduced as an adjective for a thing that is not a sexually reproducing creature, that thing gets a little bit anthropomorphized. Why don't we refer to God as "It?"

When you say that "he" or "she" did this or that in English, you are in fact subtly asserting that the subject or object of…

No, I don't own shares of this book or are related to it's creators but I really, really LOVE the whole concept asnd I often share the illustrations on my Facebook page. I'd like to see the author put the art+verse on the backs of T-shirts (large design so easily read) as I'd proudly wear that in public to get people to think - I'd even purposedly stand in lines and position myself…

One nation under God

When I was a kid I was taught the pledge of allegiance. It was explained to me that some ideas are so important that it is good to repeat them by rote. Each day before school we stood before the flag and put our hands on our ribs, saying the pledge:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag, and to the republic for which it stands,"

This statement is deceptive in that it claims unconditional allegiance is patriotism, but actually it is serfdom.

"One nation under God,"

Like…
