Someone wrote me a letter.

One day, I questioned god. Someone wrote me a reply to my claim. Here it is.

God never sends people to hell. people may wonder "Why is there a hell and "How can a loving god send people to hell"

this is no new question, it has been ased across the century to prove christains wrong.....

then he goes on to blabber about adam and eve and what commands they were given. Which, had nothing to do with what I stated.

Then he states

"He cannot allow unperfecy sould…

The Most Dangerous Show on the Net - 8 ET/5 PT TONIGHT!

Things are just getting more and more interesting these days. But if there's one thing you can count on, it'll be the same old tired talk-radio "pundits" giving the same tired talking points mandated to them by the same old tired political hacks and corporate masters. As I've said, you can almost set your watch by some of these overpaid, spoiled and pampered know-nothings.

If you're looking for a fresh perspective, a perspective that isn't afraid to call out the…

It is not the economy and no I am not stupid

In every Presidential election I hear the same line: It’s the economy stupid. I don’t claim to be a genius, but I think that I could safely say that in this election it is not the economy. It is about rights, gay rights and women’s rights. Those should be the two main issues that task the political landscape. Politicians will deflect comments that are made in their party and state that “We should talk about things that are really important, jobs and the economy.”

 That’s bullshit. The…

Mitt Romney -- "The Faith of My Fathers" - Part I

This post is the first installment of a three-part series examining the question: Is it fair to question Mitt Romney's Mormonism?

religion is society on steroids

same as an athlete uses drugs to enhance performance so does human society uses religion

religion provides society with a growing obedient population

so same as when the athlete stops taking the drugs his/her performance will return to normal and diminish

so does atheism allow humans to return to normal and produce fewer children and become less obedient

so this is why atheism and liberty will eventually be accompanied by a drop…

Education System In Louisiana

Since I've had my son, I have been looking nonstop into how I can improve any future aspect of his life. One troubling thing that I found out is that if a teacher is religious and does not believe in evolution, they have the right to refuse to teach it. I am not sure if they are legally allowed to teach creation or intelligent design in class, but they are well on their way. Evolution is a fact, and the evidence fully supports it. There is no scientific evidence supporting creationism or…

Intelligent Design vs. The Great Karnak!

Intelligent Design?

I did something I rarely do at a debate—I lost my temper. Normally, I can let ignorance roll like water from a duck’s back, but sometimes there are such stunning and dazzling displays of dunce-hood that make it hard to catch…

Mondo Diablo Episode 354: Strangers With Florrie

Florrie Fisher shared her life as a "boozer, user, and a loser," with rather sophisticated New York high school students, about 30 years before Amy Sedaris (sort of) portrayed her on the Comedy Central show, Strangers with Candy.

How Absurd Is That?

After several billion years of growth and development, a planet forms in one arm of a rather common galaxy.  A few billion years later, one particular form of life emerges on that planet, with the peculiar trait of being self-aware.  These beings are born, they live, they die, in a span of time which is the barest fraction of the time it took for this species to evolve to this point.  They form societies to protect themselves against a hostile environment.  Their curiosity leads them to take…

The Auto Da Fe

I was so blown away by this painting I needed to post it on my blog to try to draw attention to it.  The painting by Pedro Berruguete (1475) is truly remarkable and important because it’s sheer incontrovertible evidence of how sadistic and criminal the Christian mind is and has been in history.

Theism and the art of Bullying

Recently it feels like I've been involved in too many discussions about what actually constitutes rape. Long, involved discussions that boil down to the argument that victims are somehow to blame for what happens to them, whether it's based on how they dress, what their behaviour was, if they did or didn't fight back and so on. I hit on a phrase that seemed to stop one friend in his thinking tracks: bullying someone into accepting sex is still rape, in exactly the same way that bullying…

New Thread: What are “Secular Humanist Politics”?

“..a wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them free to otherwise to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned.  This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicities.”

Thomas Jefferson, First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1801

There’s no debate about what “religious…

Portland And Austin

I was in Texas recently for a few days. It was my fifth trip to Texas. I went in May 2010 to Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio. I went in August 2011 to Dallas and Austin. I went in September 2011 to Dallas. I went in April 2012 to Austin, and lastly August 2012 to Austin. Every time I go it feels like a magic land of opportunity.

So why a picture of Oregon for this post? I am looking for a job, and I have been speaking with a firm in Portland. The technology they are using…

August, 2012 Latino Atheists Meeing

The monthly Latino Atheistsmeeting was today. I did not make it. I woke up late. But Martha was there and gave me an update.

Jose is in Washington, DC for a month. Jaime was actually at a baptism. Apparently there are still religious people in his family.

It was her, Francisco and Margaret. Martha gave me the impression that it was mostly Francisco giving his usual speech: The world is going to !!!!!!…

It's The Most Dangerous Show on the Net - 8 ET/5 PT TONIGHT!

No doubt about it, we're under a lot of pressure these days, politically, socially, financially and emotionally. There's a constant swan song of overpaid, spoiled, pampered talking heads on talk radio saying all sorts of things to flocks of people who believe every word they say. But there's ONE show on Internet radio that consistently puts the talking heads in their place and helps the flocks do the one thing politicians and their big-media minions do…

911 Memorial

I saw David Silverman on Fox yesterday discussing inclusion of the iron beam cross from the WTC ruins.  I thought while watching that if the 911 Memorial Committee is claiming that the beam is not a religious symbol, then why not set the beam in a position that does not mimic the most famous of Christian symbols; e.g. stand the bean as an 'X'.   It will be interesting to hear the next argument.
