The Historicality of Jesus Christ. Who cares?

There is some debate among scholars on the historicality of Jesus Christ. Was the story given in the New Testament about Jesus based on a real historical figure? There is a movement that now poses it as a serious question but they are mostly considered fringe radicals. Most Christian scholars scoff at the question which is no surprise due to their Christian beliefs. Honestly, I believe that the “radicals” offer much compelling evidence for the case of a fictional Jesus though I…

Why Answers in Genesis deny the real Ark has not been found

Simple. If the real Ark was found, who would want to visit Ken Ham's ridiculous fraud?

“Alhamdulillah”, proclaimed my friend

His name was Bukhari, a sunni Muslim. He was the Training Manager at BHEL, Trichy (India). He used to invite me from Madras for conducting 3 to 5 day training programmes & workshops for his middle level & senior level managers. During the lunch break, I would walk from the conference hall to his cabin in the next building for a chit-chat.

I never took lunch since it would make me sleepy. I had to be at my best…

What reason is there to believe "God" as spoken by theists is a coherently defined word?

Why don't you atheists who believe "God" is a coherently defined term like the terms "unicorn" and "Santa Claus" give me a reason to believe that it is?  Don't you think that would be a better plan than just dissing me because I don't happen to know of any reason to believe "God" is a coherently defined word?

Which gods can the Gen Next worship w/o getting embarrassed?

I had a disturbing dream recently. I had renounced non-belief in the supernatural phenomena like gods, soul, afterlife, heaven, Karma, reincarnation and become a devout Hindu brahmin once again. I was doing maha mangalarthi to Durga mata by dancing like the Bengalis do. I woke up in cold sweat and felt relieved that my secular humanism was in tact. Perhaps it was the consumption of too many vadas my loving wife had made the previous night.

In real life, this can happen only if my…

Teaching Humanism to the Military

I have a serious question. The Vermont National Guard put out a request for sources - for a program that is a LOT like my Living Made Simpler program in terms of topics they want discussed. (see:

Obviously - it's the military - a non-religious secular approach to a discussion of ethics and personal responsibility and the dignity and worth of each…

Why Islam should be outlawed (until it's the next religions turn)

Bare with me this is not hate speech.

Let's say the Aztec religion becomes very prolific in the U.S.   There's temples through out the country. Our Constitution protects the freedom of religion. Great especially if it also protects freedom from religion. One day these Aztec theist decide to sacrifice a random citizen at each temple every day to ensure the sun rises. Would their freedom of religion then be protected. Of course not. It would be deemed unconstitutional on the basis…

Let Us Not Praise the Prosperity Gospel With Faint Damn: It’s Worse than its Theology!

“Joel Osteen’s Fake, Heretical ‘Christianity’ Isn’t Any Better Than Atheism.”

That’s the title of an article from blogger Matt Walsh published yesterday on The Blaze. If Matt Walsh ever does have a thought worthy of publication, he will no mistake it for a bad cold, and there is certainly no chance The Blaze would publish anything that challenges the grade-school…

The Geniun of Homeopathy

Reasonable, intelligent individuals view homeopathy as pseudoscience easily dismissed by high school chemistry and simple mathematics, but since I am neither reasonable nor intelligent I consider it to be the greatest medical marvel since the tongue depressor.

The genius of a homeopathic remedy lies in its simplicity of construction, so anyone with an empty…

Genesis of the concept of Soul & Afterlife [Viewed through the microscope of science]

Religion as per some philosophers is all about Comfort & Consolation. Religious beliefs (Soul, Afterlife, heaven & gods) are molly-coddling illusions. Afterlife beliefs are the primary reasons for the case that religion is a product of wishful thinking.

The belief in life after death may eliminate or weaken:

- The fear of personal extinction

- The overwhelming sadness when loved one dies

- The sense that a life of finite duration…

Free Thinker Meditation - Why bother?

So far, everybody I know is human.

Which for me begs the question: What is it to be human, or what is it to live a human life?

How does our experience, due to our genes, differ from other life forms?

Do you remember the charts from 50 years ago that often put humans at the top of all life forms?

Do you like many others now find such ideas ironic, tragic, and deadly?

So other than destroying this planet, we so often say we love, what is our best potential…

AronRa and Words – “The Details are Everything”

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less." "The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things." "The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master—that's all."

-- Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass

In my experience, if you can't say what you mean, you can never mean what you say. The details are everything.…
