Proving the Poobah’s posts are prescient, it’s seems the threat to smite the Mormons over posthumous baptisms caused them to collapse into mint jelly and quash the practice.
Maybe.

“Now that I’ve shed my skin completely,
One true reality alone exists.”
Zen saying
Amid the twin excitements of Super Bowl and blizzard, we vaguely recall that today is also Groundhog Day, which was nothing more than a rather witless locally-oriented celebration until Harold Ramis’ brilliant movie of the same name. It was and is my all-time favorite message film.
Groundhog Day explores the everydayness of life with an ingenious premise…

As PZ Myers mentions, Young Earth Creationists absolutely hate being reminded that their World-View is only Seventh Day Adventist propaganda, which originated from their leader's brain damage Hallucinations.

"If you believe," he shouted to them, "clap your hands; don't let Tink die." J. M. Barrie 1860–1937
The Tinkerbell Effect and the National Day of Prayer in my way of thinking are identical. When the Disney fairy is about to die, she speaks to Peter Pan and tells him that she could get…

God is the immemorial refuge of the incompetent, the helpless, the miserable. They find not only sanctuary in His arms, but also a kind of superiority, soothing to their macerated egos: he will set them above their betters.”
H.L. Mencken
“If this is your God, he is not very impressive. He has many psychological problems; he’s so insecure. He demands worship every seven days. He goes out and creates faulty humans and then blames them for his own mistakes.…

"I called to him, rapidly stating what it was I wanted him to do—namely, to examine a small paper with me. Imagine my surprise, nay, my consternation, when without moving from his privacy, Bartleby in a singularly mild, firm voice, replied, ‘I would prefer not to.’
I sat awhile in perfect silence, rallying my stunned faculties. Immediately it occurred to me that my ears had deceived me, or Bartleby had entirely misunderstood my meaning. I repeated my request in the…

Theists, I appreciate your prayers for my heathen soul, but there’s no need. Really. I’m an atheist. I’m good. And Mormons, posthumous baptism is even more than one step over the line. That’s even more unneeded, creepy, and unwanted – unless you want to modify that whole…

I just learned, via facebook, that the SkeptICTs of Wichita State University are going to have a free event this May 21, 2011. It is being put on by the Air Capital Skeptics. I guess this is the day for "Rapture" as it is being held as a "Rapture Day" event. Apparently another religious adherent has taken it upon himself to figure out the day that Jesus is going to return to Earth. Or at least begin the Rapture.I think it should be May 22, so we wo0uldn't have to deal with their crap…

On any given Sunday morning driving around in America presents a strange occurrence. It is the furthest divergence of the two groups
ideologically wish to have to do with each other. The faithful adherents
make their way through various traditions of attendance to their place
of worship. They are the ones that populate the early morning traffic on
Sunday mornings. The…
