The first is always awkward. The first blog post among many.
For starters I can tell you that I'm not much of a blogger. Even Facebook gets nerve racking sometimes for me. BUT!
BUT, today is a special day because I am really completely admitting that I am an atheist! 100% atheist! To many of you this seems insignificant or just something that's expected with higher learning. On the contrary, I would much rather admit to my family that I'm gay than have to admit that I am… Continue
As with any new thing in one's life, there is a honeymoon period where everything is perfect and life is better than it has ever been. Now consider that I came to Atheism on my own and with little or no persuasion. It took me years of becoming displeased with Christian morality, or the lack there of, before I was willing to accept foreign ideas. My family and identity was so entangled with faith that I feared I would be set outside the fold. To date, I have had very mixed reactions. I…
‘This Non-Religious Life’ was born out of a chance interview on Zombie Popcorn’s other show, ‘The Talking Dead’ which was meant to cover the May 21, 2011 rapture prophecy. At the last minute, Brother Mike of May-212011.com threw his hat into the ring. Bob, interested in being in on the conversation from the start, jumped at the opportunity to be in on the discussion.
After the two-hour live show was over, we decided that the material was too good to allow it to… Continue
I came to atheism after much inquiry, self-reflection, and rational thought, at the end of last year. My wife and I married in a Protestant church 3 years ago, after I thought I had a personal revelation, which was, in effect, a realization of my own potential to take control of my life. I was raised Catholic, and went through all the hoops/sacraments. I am now engaged periodically in an uncomfortable discussion with my wife as to how to raise or 2 children. I am of the opinion that the…
Somewhere between my curious nature and my desire to interact with my environment, I looked critically at the world. So as a child, when my family went to church, I really had no idea what it was about. I liked the children sermons given at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. It was fun to go in front of the sanctuary and sit with the other kids beside the pastor, since he seemed to be the reason everyone was there.…
I just read, and watched that Seth MacFarlane is in fact one of us. I had suspected it, I mean look at Family Guy loaded with religious jokes. I was never sure though. You can watch an interview of him with Bill Maher here:
And he has good things to say about the movement. When asked about it he says "Its about fucking time." I always thought he was a pretty smart fellow, but this is just furthers my belief about that. This isn't exactly the most recent news, but… Continue
So we made it to Killeen and since I have time, I'm gonna blog our trip . So we left Washington (much later than we meant) and drove to The Dalles, Oregon. We got to go through Portland for about a second and I saw what I think was the middle part of Mount St. Helens. I'm not sure...I saw clouds, snowy mountain, then more clouds. Since we were closest to St. Helens then I'm guessing it was that one. The next day was a total blur of BORING! The western sides of Washington and Oregon are… Continue
