So far, everybody I know is human.
Which for me begs the question: What is it to be human, or what is it to live a human life?
How does our experience, due to our genes, differ from other life forms?
Do you remember the charts from 50 years ago that often put humans at the top of all life forms?
Do you like many others now find such ideas ironic, tragic, and deadly?
So other than destroying this planet, we so often say we love, what is our best potential…Continue
I liked most of what I heard President Obama tell us last night in his State of the Union address. Let me go through a brief checklist:
"So, you're an atheist. What does that mean other than you think you are a gift to the world?"
"How can you call yourself an atheist and support abortion?"
"Atheist men tend to be misogynists."
"Where do you get the right to determine what is right or not? You're an…Continue
Whether you used to believe in Jesus or Yahweh, Mohammed or Allah, Krishna or Zeus, I can assure you that none exist. I will even take you further than that and guarantee they do not exist. It is all about your perception of the concept that a god/goddess is. Not a…Continue
I have been often troubled by the many mortal human attitudes and behaviors many different deities have taken on in various holy texts. Petty emotions like jealously, bigotry, hate, anger, and lust, to name a few. All of these…Continue
If you haven’t read the recent Daily Mail piece by A.N. Wilson, I would recommend you do so to follow along with what I am about to go on about. Some of you might already be familiar with his emotional appeal drivel for Christ and might be able to save yourself the agony of reading more of his…Continue

Seriously, I have a split personality when it comes to the "tequila". Just one smidgen, and the tragedy is on. One drink, just one, has forced me to move to new cities to protect my honor. Mechanical bull stripping, the accidental blowjobs, sleeping with the boss, not to mention the inevitable injuries from when I try to prove I can do anything. I always seem to leave the party laughing, but wake up with mysterious bruises and memories of cartwheels, climbing trees and swimming all…Continue
I continue to chafe at some of the so-called intellectuals on Free Thought Blogs continually referring to atheism as a "movement" and associating it with all these other causes that actual nonbelievers have every right to care about or not. I happen to think that supporting equal rights with no preference given to either gender is a positive thing, and this is why I have a reservations about feminism. I happen to think that a progressive view of politics is the best way to move society…Continue

In the philosophical competition of worldviews many Christians use the "free will defense" as a way to excuse their god's apparent moral negligence in this world. Supposedly the value of free will is greater than whatever evils may result from establishing moral beings who have this opportunity to do both good and evil and suffer or profit as a result of it. I've taken the liberty of assembling all of my analysis of this popular move of theirs. Enjoy.…

Kasese Humanist Primary School pupils on 21st February 2012 had smiles on their faces as they were supplied with Brand New Pens from Pen for Kids Organization based in the United Kingdom. The shipment of pens amounted to 4000 enclosed in 4 separate boxes with each containing a 1000 pens.

Since i am o ff twitter today, i figured i would blog a little in a bit more than 140 chars. So here we go. Twitter is a great way of active social interaction between people, even between people from a very divers cultural and geographic backgrounds. Add to that, that this cultural interaction takes place in a very public space that is equally available directly to the "followers" of the individuals taking…Continue

In these discussions about self-determinism, some hard determinists dismissively parade opinion as fact. Their conviction trumps their rational integrity. We all need to be mindful that just about everything to do with free will and determinism is, thus far, a matter of opinion.
Almost 400 years ago, René Descartes claimed that, unlike the human body, the mind has no physical properties or spatial dimension: thus it can not be examined in the same way as the physical body. Today, we…

I've grown disappointed with philosophers on the subject of free will. The great philosophers of the past knew nothing about the brain. Modern philosophers contradict each other. What I've been trying to do is to stick with the knowledge we have and avoid philosophical entanglements and conjecture as much as possible. However, certain philosophical conundrums must be addressed, such as: (1) the false dichotomy of free will versus causality; (2)…Continue
The Internet is amazing. It hosts media of all kinds. Anybody can communicate with anybody. And you can find out anything you want to know. It's huge and complex but we don't need to understand how it works to know that it does. In the same way, we don't need to understand how the brain works to know that it does. Its electro-chemical machinations, while interesting, aren't necessary to understand in order to know that the brain deliberates. That's what it does.
Neuroscience can't yet…Continue
Dancing with Causality: Purposeful Steps
Free will, in the form of self-determinism, is only a big mystery if you allow your thinking to be governed by the centuries of philosophers who have never managed to figure it out. They've been arguing in circles because they've defined "free will" to fit their premises. This is because they…Continue

I’m really ticked off now…..BIG TIME!
Last night I expected all the “rapture” yahoo’s to be gone. All I expected to find was a bunch
of clothes, empty house, apartments, mobile homes and the like. Cars just left on the street with the keys in them.
I had planned to go out looting. I was gonna clean up with the cash they left…Continue
