My thoughts on the State of Union

I liked most of what I heard President Obama tell us last night in his State of the Union address. Let me go through a brief checklist:

  1. Taxing the rich: check and double-check. The rich have made out like bandits and basically own the Congress due to a horrendous Supreme Court decision in Citizens United. I could tell by the sour expression on the face of Mr Orange, John Boner, that the President had struck a…

Not Even An Apology (For Destroying Countless Lives)

Richard Nixon

It’s fitting to have this war criminal, McCarthyite and lying “crook” who abandoned the White House in disgrace, as the figurehead for the modern War on Drugs, the holocaust of the modern age.  Tens of thousands of lives were ruined, psychologically damaged (including mine), and plain murdered to keep the nightmare going.  All perpetrated so many professions could feed off the mayhem like sea gulls circling a countless school of surface-feeding sardines. …

Happy 4/20!

Thousands of years ago — in times we are fond of calling ‘primitive’ (since this renders us ‘modern’ without having to exert ourselves further to earn this qualification) — religion and medicine were united in an undifferentiated enterprise; and both were closely allied with government and politics — all being concerned with maintaining the integrity of the community and of the individuals who were its members. How did ancient societies and their priest-physicians protect people from…

Medical Marijuana, CBD, random musings

I have thoughts swimming around my head constantly. They tend to mostly get lost; but every now and then i'm able to trap them into a wordpad file. I have musings on the war on drugs, the serenity prayer quote from N/A and A/A meetings, CBD and marijuana/drug reform, infowars & police state reverse fear-mongering, complaining about people's lack of proper spelling and grammar (and the role the internet…

Pot Stories Review

OK, I'll admit it; I was down about the apathy and indifference that greeted my Pot Stories. It was my magnum opus after a life of inescapable unconventionality.  Viet Nam, NYU, the ‘60s, New York City and a smorgasbord of pot and hash, pretty much blocked the straight and narrow path.  Studying social psych with Phil Zimbardo made it improbable I would allow myself to be drafted in 1966 when I graduated, just before the Tet Offensive. In my opinion, every new Army recruit…

"God In Chaos" Chapter Eight; HUMANIST POINT OF VIEW part thirty

But as I have said before, since non-adherents do not have a dogma we really have no need to meet together or organize. But I have a feeling

that will change as we fight through the courts to return our nation to

the secular nation that it was founded as. People seem to be tiring of

the rules and control of dogma and want to be good peaceful people

living with one another. Helping out where we can and staying out of the

way when we…

Pardon me if I banter Christians more than the other organized religionists; I’m a product of the Catholic school system from grammar school to Boston College. The other religions are equally as farfetched. It’s just that I’m better acquainted with the doctrines of the church than the conventions and convictions of Judaism or Islam.

I rejected religious ideas at a very early age. The fables were too unbelievable, even to a seven year old: Jonah living in the belly of a whale; Adam… Continue
