Since then the international value of Mussolini's nest-egg has mounted until it now exceeds £500m. In 2006, at the height of the recent property bubble, the Vatican spent £15m of those funds to buy 30 St James's Square. Other UK properties are at 168 New Bond Street and in the city of… Continue

Religion Is Abomination
Preface: I’m not gay, but if I were I’d be pissed at some bronze-age fisherman or goat-herder declaring my genetic sexual proclivities to be “Abomination”—to be loathed or deplored. I have news for you, I’d say, the whole screwy religion has caused more misery and suffering than same-sex lovemaking ever could. At least nobody gets hurt when safely and consensually performed. It’s time we turn the tables… Continue

I've been reading a series of books by David Weber called the Safehold series. Weber is an interesting writer. I'm not really a "fan" as in I adore his works and all that but his books do keep one busy. The plot of Safehold is complicated. It begins eight hundred years before the main part of the story gets underway at a time the human race was at war with a race called the Gbaba that was determined to extinguish humanity from the universe. Humanity was loosing the war. As a last ditch… Continue

Only 14% of the German population think the popes visit would be "important" for them.
(Source in german)
86 % actually don't care personally. Even the majority of catholics (63% of them) think that the visit doesnt play a major role in their life. 26% say its "totally unimportant", 37% say its "rather unimportant".
All this just… Continue

Over the past week I have engaged a number of christians on Twitter, and it seems as though evidence for beliefs, and specifically, what is it that makes beliefs valid or invalid. So I want to address directly the nature of valid and invalid beliefs, and then would like to shift my focus to one tweeter in particular and the pope and some comments he recently made.
Because christians and atheists always seem to start running into problems here, each criticizing the other of not having… Continue

It's hard to introduce such a grave subject to a generally light-hearted podcast, but here I am willing to try. This is another BBC documentary, this time exposing the official coverup by the Vatican of sex-abuse by priests and others with trusted positions with the Church (big "C").
Sex Vatican 1
Leslie Gore * You Don't Own Me
Ennio Morricone * Giu… Continue

I think it is a worthy question to ask what is wrong with the world if it takes the allowance of an 83 year old celibate man wearing a costume to finally be able to have protected sex.… Continue

In a recent visit to London, the Holy Vicar of Christ continues with the past lies of the Catholic Church, continues to shirk the responsibility of his Church, and continues to spread misconceptions that are obviously false.…

On Sunday, Pope Benedict XVI visited the famed Shroud of Turin and prayed. One can only guess than he must have prayed that this entire pedophilia scandal would disappear. Read the rest of this article

The Catholic sex scandal continues and the Vatican has continued to blame everyone except themselves. Most Catholics in America don’t even agree with the Pope on a growing list of important issues and yet they continue to go to church and donate money which gets funneled back to the Vatican to fight for and against issues they don’t agree with and to protect pedophile priests from getting prosecuted.

There is a terrible double standard going on in the world today. Could you imagine how society at large would respond if the headlines of the morning newspapers reported that the largest atheist group in the world had allowed members of their group to molest children? What if the atheist group used member donations to help those who had molested children to move to other areas of the country or even other countries entirely in order to avoid prosecution? … Continue

The Pope is the leader of the largest single religious organization in the world. The Catholic Church prides itself of their strong faith in God, their Lord and Savior. Now that the Pope and the Church are in the middle of a worldwide scandal and literally a billion people are praying for them, I have to wonder if God will answer those prayers.
This really is a test of the Pope’s faith since he and the Vatican have all but ignored the actual scandal. Instead of being open to world… Continue
