We’ve all been there at some point. You log onto your favorite social media website like Facebook, and as you scroll through the many status updates in your news feed with highlights about your Aunt Martha’s cat, or your friend’s son that lost a tooth, you see this:
If you are irreligious like myself, all you see is this:…

This weekend was a personal test for my parenting. As an atheist parent, I am pretty adamant in presenting both sides of an argument and using context when discussing religious belief with my kids. The only confirmation of how fair of a job I am doing is when the kids end up in awkward… Continue

It seems over the last decade we have more things to be afraid of.
Between the advent of engineered disease, and surreptitious attacks of mind boggling computer viruses that could potentially bring down banking systems globally, it would seem we need to look at everything we… Continue

Promises that Jesus makes about prayer in the Bible:
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. [Matthew 21:21]
If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. [John 14:14]
Ask, and it will be given you. [Matthew 7:7]
Nothing will be impossible to you. [Matthew… Continue

The video, Islam - the True Message of God, poses questions for other religious points of view. The questions for Atheists are:
- Who created you?
- Who made you from nothing?
- Why are you created?
- So, you are born then you die and become forgotten, do you like to live in such a state?
The video also makes the statement, “Every human has to believe in some power to… Continue

I find it hard to explain my self to people who do not know what an atheist is. I have bin called a devil worshiper a pagan the list goes on and on. what gets me is the onslaught of combative Beauvoir I'm meant with before I can even start to explain what an atheist is. is this a problem that most atheists have? or is this just a small issue?

I honestly don't know what to write, or possibly even why I am writing this. It doesn't help that my roommate has effectively been away for over a month now, with the exception of the one night I saw him before he turned around and left again. If it was to stay with a girlfriend I would be pleased. But, the first time was to attend classes, no problem, and the second was for an out of town meeting. This has left me far too much time to think. And since I have been out of school for the last… Continue

Clips this week come from the BBC comedy "Outnumbered," in which awkward questions are asked by children, and adults fail.
Hopefully, I will be off-planet in a couple of days. So if you don't see me next week--you'll be too busy escaping the horror that awaits. Otherwise, I'll be podcasting from the saucers after I've had my fill of alien ecstasy. Praise… Continue

For the longest time, I considered myself Atheist/Agnostic. I couldn’t believe in a god without proof, couldn’t accept blind faith as reasonable. And I was convinced that even if I had proof, I couldn’t worship. The things carried out in the name of god or religion, are some of the most atrocious acts in history. Burning woman on stakes or wars based around religion, I couldn’t wrap my head around the idea. Why is killing wrong, but it’s ok to do it in the name of god?
I never… Continue

I wrote this blog on Myspace, intended for christians to read. I have posted it here to help other newly converted atheists in their quest for helping other theists to realize that God, in the biblical term, cannot exist.
Below are a series of questions. These are questions that I had asked toward the end of my christianity, and was never given a good answer for any of them. I challenge other believers in a god to ask these questions as well. If these questions could be… Continue

The other day, someone i'm very close to had just found out i'm an atheist. So she looked at me and said, "Katie, where does a rainbow come from?" I know it has something to do with the sun and a prism of colors, but i dont know everything about it and I don't know how it works exactly, so I took a moment before I answered. Seeing that I didn't answer right away though, and seeing me ponder it, she isaid , "see? Nobody knows. It's god." And I said, "No, its just a prism of reflecting light and… Continue

Yeah, I know, it's been done before. But there are so many people out there with weird questions to ask atheists. But then again, a lot of them are just the same old questions over and over again.
I've answered a bunch in article format. To make the process more interactive, I made a Squidoo page with a duel section and a box where readers can ask questions. I've even answered some of those questions. However, I'm still working on the answer to the most recent one because I don't… Continue

The other day I wrote about atheists and how we're not all evolved alike
. We're all very individual with how we got to where we are regarding religion and our beliefs.
Today I created a short 6 question survey about reconciling belief and rationality
. I'd love… Continue

Figured I would post this writing from college, since it kind of applies.
We live in an artificial reality. The world around us is the result of thousands of years of culture and beliefs being abstracted over generations. There is little we "believe" and "feel" that makes any rational sense, but our actions usually can be traced directly to our basic instincts of survival. We hunger for more, both in ways that are necessities to our success as… Continue

I was asked a few good questions recently and thought those questions with my replies might make an enlightening post for HQ. The questions have been posted without editing or correction.
Preamble: I wanted first off to say that I do respect your positions. I think you are one of the most open-minded people I’ve met (on the internet or other wise).
I want to ask you a few personal questions and if you do not want to answer I… Continue
