So people at my office started wearing "Jesus Loves Me" lanyards, (those cloth necklacey badge holder things). I obviously got permission to wear an Atheist one.
Unfortunately I can't find one so I have to custom make one.
I need a good, short
quote BUT here's the kicker. It CAN be pro-atheism but it can not be overtly anti religion general or specific.
So far I've got as thoughts:
"I'd take the awe of understanding… Continue

Like it says.
If you haven't heard about this yet, though I'm sure many of you already have, a US rifle scope manufacturer which provides all the sights and scopes to the soldiers in Iraq, and to the locals we are training, has emblazoned religious citations like 2CR3:11 or what have you next to the serial #'s.
Here's the article:…

I really don't get the # of people that have the "OMG You're an atheist and you just said God damn it!" or bless you, or etc... I mean are these people so amazingly literal minded themselves? Do THEY really mean "God, please send this tire to your imaginary room of fire and torture because it went flat and that deserves divine intervention for punishment of it's transgression!" when they get a flat and say "God damn tire!"??
Is it that they simply think that to not believe in god you… Continue

I've talked to people numerous times who've mentioned that they'd like to have something up which is pro-atheism in the office but they "know" that as soon as they do they'll be told to take it down by a theistic boss or complaints will roll in from coworkers, etc.
I know many people on here probably know this already but simply for any who don't... they can't. It's considered religious discrimination. Now an employer CAN say "no religious items" potentially. THIS however I'm not… Continue

Perfect timing, I was just commenting to a few people today how Atheists still top the polls as America's most mistrusted group then THIS: http://www.hulu.com/watch/64995/family-guy-not-all-dogs-go-to-heaven
was on today. Check it out on Hulu, it was great.

This was a mass email I received from a friend and my reply to it.
"It is now closer to reality than you think.
You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door. Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers. At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way. With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun. You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and… Continue

So apparently some idiot that got fed up with Kosher Salt on TV cooking shows got irate and decided that the Christians of this country should have their own, religion-friendly, brand of Salt.
Yet another example of that wonderful "This is a Christian country so all you people with… Continue

Ok so it's not a real headline but it should be; though not for the reason you're probably assuming.
The fact that Sasha Grey is effectively married to some guy and it's not me, combined with 17* reality shows airing this season has proven conclusively to me, had there been any doubt prior, that it simply is not possible for there to be a just and loving creator.
That is all. Carry on.

So... there are Glenn Beck "We surround them" brainwashing supremacists militia and please-make-me-richer rallies, oh, I'm sorry I mean "Meet-ups" all around the country on the 13th as he "unveils" his I'm sure brilliant theories to become a GlennBeckTheocratic Nation.
I'm sure there isn't a whole lot to "Unveil". I'm not Nostradamus but I'm predicting "White people are good" "God is good" "Commie pinko-reds are evil" and "What I like is good what I don't is bad" Mixed in with some… Continue

I expect this is not a new theme to anyone, in fact it's probably one of the most frequently discussed topics, among both by the religious and the non religious. It's probably one of the few things that all can usually agree on. Whatever your belief, you should respect opposing views. Each to their own. Don't tread on me and I shan't tread on you. Freedom of conscience is, of course, one of the greatest rights we have as free men. We can safely all agree on this one patch of common ground and… Continue
