This essay was just published on State of Formation, primarily a site for inter-religious discussion among theists in educational institutions. The premise won't appeal to every atheist (or theist of course) but those of us who live and work with theists need to find some new, creative ways of presenting a viable alternative. This is one I offer.
From the Parliament of World Religions
As one who has worked as a theist within the interfaith community and now as a non-theist among some of the same folks, I think this is worth serious consideration.

Larry Norman, Randy Stonehill, Phil Keaggy, Second Chapter of Acts, John Fischer, The Way, Oak Ridge Boys, Elvis, "Gospel," holy hymns, church choirs, "sacred" music, Young Life Songs and Creations spiral songbook. . .it was, and is, an endless composition of brain-saturation. I listened to countless hours of it, went to concerts, bought the albums, met some of the "artists" like Stonehill, Fischer, Barry McGuire, Yohann Anderson and others. Believe it or not, I once sang in an 8000-voice…Continue

This has just been posted on the Beyond God site.
Walt Whitman continues to impress me as a wildly reasonable (yes, an odd pairing) voice for those who are exploring the wilderness out beyond the supernatural ideologies and theologies of distraction. He is a kind of Freethinker’s Prophet (kind of). Here are a few lines from a remarkable, overlooked or underappreciated section of…Continue

I wrote this essay after reading some of Newt's new book, To Save America.
He calls for Americans to stand up and fight?
Are we ready?

This was my response to a request from Patheos, an interreligious website, asking people of faith and no faith to offer 100 words or less on Who/What is God?
