Worthy cause: Reconstructing the clitoris.

I was just reading that there's a charity ( which is building a clinic in Burkina Faso expressly for the purpose of restoring clitoral pleasure to Muslim women who have been mutilated by clitoridectomies.

Clitoraid raised more than $50,000 (U.S.) to build the facility and construction began in late April. They are planning on building more clinics.

I Googled medical procedures to reconstruct the… Continue

My approach to explaining atheism

My main approach to explaining atheism is not to deny God but, rather, to deny any knowledge about the supernatural: and I think we can all agree that God is as supernatural as it gets.

The Supernatural, Dogma and Fraud

At the micro level -- individuals and local churches -- religion often provides comfort and community. However, at the macro level of organized religion, the consequences of belief systems based on the supernatural become clear.

I think we should recognize, from the get-go, that it's highly unlikely that anybody's stance on this controversial issue is going to change if they've already staked out a position… Continue

Islam and inverted intolerance: Sarkozy and anti-burqa campaign

The following, clipped from the news site, is a revealing glimpse of the abject incompatibility between Islamic and Western values.

Sarkozy's remarks on burqa only to provoke Muslims

New Delhi: Muslim leaders today slammed French president Nicolas Sarkozy for describing the burqa as a sign of "subservience", saying it was a "direct attack" on Islamic identity and meant to "provoke" the…
