Star Trek

WOW! I just got home from the theater, where I saw the new Star Trek movie in Imax. I really don't have words enough to describe the awesomeness of it!

What a ride! From the beginning to the end, there were so few slow parts it's a really good idea to skip the drink during the movie. You don't want to be getting up to run to the loo, because you WILL miss something.

This is THE BEST movie I've seen in a very long time!

Granted, I am a Star Trek fan from way… Continue

Some would label atheism a thought crime

I've seen a few posts on other sites, etc. giving us images, and descriptions of douchebags... But this article was written by the epitome of the word.

Why in the name of God (oops sorry, didn't mean to be so insensitive/offensive), does RTE give an entire 'Liveline' over to a tiny rump of deranged atheists to spout their puerile propaganda? Just what is… Continue

Penn & Teller: BS! The Bible, Fact or Fiction?

I just watched this video, and I must say it was well done.

11 Things The Bible Bans, But You Do Anyway

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Yesterday, I found myself in a discussion about the anti-abortion people. The reason: It's just incomprehensible to us that people get so zealous about that issue that they'll go as far as to murder doctors who perform abortions and bomb abortion clinics.

The conversation then took its natural turn to selective, self-serving interpretations of the Bible... finding a few verses that you can use… Continue

Atheists banned from public service in 5 states - WTF!

This is ludicrous! The comments on the website were apt.: What if an atheist witnesses a murder? Oh, gee, sorry, can't testify!

Arkansas, 5 Other States, Ban Atheists from Public Service. Seriously

By Bonnie Erbe, Thomas Jefferson Street blog.

Can it be constitutional to exclude from public service or service as a witness in a state court any and all atheists? Such a practice is so… Continue

Keep Religion Personal Not Political

This is a very well written article.

FINDING A VOICE by Ann Davidow

People really have to stop referring to this country as a Christian nation. The founders took great pains to avoid incorporating religious references into the Constitution, even going so far as to state plainly that no religious test should ever be considered a prerequisite for holding office. Somewhere along the line things have gone way off… Continue

A Christian Home

Joke of the Day:

After the christening of his baby brother in church,
Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car.
His father asked him three times what was wrong.
Finally, the boy replied,
"That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home, And I wanted to stay with you guys!"

A Nation of Non-Believers

Obama has the last quote in this blurb: "...and non-believers."

It's nice to be included for a change.

"The government of the United States is in no sense founded on the Christian Religion." ~ George Washington / "I do not find in Christianity one redeeming feature." ~ Thomas Jefferson / "The Bible is not my book, nor Christianity my religion." ~ Abraham Lincoln / "A just government has no need for the clergy or… Continue

An interesting letter to an editor

Published - Monday, December 22, 2008

Respect the rights of atheists, too

This is a response to Sally Oswalt’s letter to the editor titled “They can’t prove there is no God.” I can agree we atheists may not be able to prove there is no god; however, we are not the ones making the claim.

If I started telling everyone that I believed that there is a one-ton diamond buried in my backyard, and that my family and I enjoy digging for… Continue

Freethinking Winter Solstice Sign & Billboard

To go up in Olympia!

Nov. 26, 2008

Tis the season . . . to bring some freethinking cheer to Olympia!

The Freedom From Religion Foundation, a state/church watchdog and the nation's largest association of atheists and agnostics, is making its mark on Olympia in December.

In addition to erecting a jaunty "Reason's Greetings" billboard in downtown Olympia on East 5th Avenue (cross street Jefferson), the Foundation and its… Continue
