Episode 194: Carl Sagan on the DIstinction Between True and False Visions

Carl Sagan's book, "The Demon Haunted World," is as close to an "atheist bible" as you can get. Well, it is to me, anyway. Here I include the chapter called "On the Distinction Between True and False Visions," which deals with Marian apparitions.

Ten Answers from an Austro-Athenian

Scott Pruett has written 10 Questions for the Atheist, and François Tremblay has answered with the first half of 10 Answers from an Atheist (with more to follow). Pruett seems to equate atheism with materialism (“Atheism,” Pruett tells us, “by definition, holds that there is no God and nothing beyond this world of matter, space, time, and energy”!) and…

More 10 Answers from an Atheist from Check Your Premises

Francois' Answers

Recently Alison gave her answers to the 10 Questions for the Atheist from the web site LifeWay. Since I’ve answered this sort of thing before, I decided to have another go at it. But before we start, a word on their definition of atheism:

Atheism, by definition, holds that there is no God and nothing beyond this world of matter, space, time, and energy.

Episode 193: Ajay Will Not Be Swayed

Ajay Lowery's album is some kind of anti-federalist, sovereign American thing. Which would not be too bad, were it not so pro-American. I know, right? Just in time for Easter, folks. An Easter record for you, all about how the IRS should be brought down. Which is also not so bad, either.

What? What do you think you pay for with your federal tax money? Dolls for orphans? Stem-cell research?… Continue

Movie Review: Ressources humaines (Human Resources)

Human Resources

Franck has been studying for the French equivalent of an MBA, so is sent to his home town for an internship in the assembly plant where his father has worked for 30 years.

We can see it coming: the dynamic between boss and worker.

But this gets much deeper. Here we might see our own lives, whether we work in retail, or management, or anything most… Continue

If I am "not right" about hell?

Well, there are literally billions of possibilities that are very different or slightly different than my idea that there is no place where God designated for people who Don't Love Him to be… Continue

Yet More Bullshit Starbucks Quotes

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating - in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life.

I am 42 years old, and have been an atheist for well over 20 years. During that time, I have thought long and hard about life and death. I am quite sure of my… Continue

Episode 192: Magical Questions, Real Answers

I was contacted by an Australian Christian who found 10 questions on the internet and wanted to publicly write them on my "website" and have me answer them. I don't know what website he was talking about; I suspected it was my Atheist Nexus page, but I'm not certain. I have lots of pages, but my only websites with my… Continue

I just posted some of my old Jack Chick Audio Parodies

Yeah, they're years old, back when I didn't know anything about anything. Not that I know anything yet. But there's some value there. There's the Jack Chick tract "Dark Dungeons" written by my hub Francois Tremblay, as an old detective play. Then there's Noah's Ark, as seen through the eyes of a pwecious wittle girl. It's strangely moving. Finally, an inconceivable tract, "The Unloved," a terrible Jack Chick soap, with some bad audio, but some hilarious moments too--if you can hear it properly.… Continue

Robert Crumb Draws Genesis!

Article

"The famously subversive US cartoonist Robert Crumb has announced the completion of his long-awaited take on the Book of Genesis.

The acclaimed satirist revealed on his personal website that he had finished the project, which is out this autumn, and which his UK publisher is predicting will "provoke the religious right". Four years in the making, Crumb worked from the King James… Continue

So, I'm making a new podcast about The Ten Questions

...but they may not be exactly the Ten Questions you all have seen or heard. I took these Ten Burning Questions every intelligent Atheist must answer yadda yadda from Lifeway: Biblical Solutions for Life. Yeah, I know, it sounds like Landmark Education or that scam thing from this week's Mentalist.

I don't really know what it is: here, let me check...
