Texas Wisdom: 2014

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — The Texas Republican Party would endorse psychological treatment that seeks to turn gay people straight under a new platform partly aimed at rebuking laws in California and New Jersey that ban so-called “reparative therapy” on minors. June 5, 2014.

Texas' State Constitution, Article 1 Section 4

Logic 101: prostitution & religion

Just amusing myself.............

"Personally, I have no problem with that (prostitution) at all. Zero. Every normal human being has a sex drive, just as everyone needs food, water and sleep. If it's OK for a woman, young or old, to offer to do my nails, give me a massage, clean my house, or cook for me, why the fuck shouldn't she be able to offer her own personal sexual services for $$$?

Look at this ridiculous scenario: Dick and Jane meet…

A visit to my front door

Just a few minutes ago, a couple of young boys---probably about 12, 13---rang my doorbell and handed me a 1 page flyer from  the Trinity Baptist Church. The front page has directions to, and info about, the church. The back page tells me (1) I am a sinner (ah,------they don't even know me), (2) God has placed a price on my sin-------DEATH,---Romans 6:23a

I'm minding my own business, in my own home, eating a pizza, and 2 young strangers come to my home, uninvited, and…

The Verdict

To those hysterical over the verdict:

  1. Don’t forget, the prosecution---via voir dire---participates in the selection of jurors. Any jurors they feel have any kind of a bias against, not only convicting, but voting the death penalty are excused with a challenge. And, better yet, they would prefer jurors who are simply more likely to vote guilty than not guilty. Also, it is common knowledge in the trial lawyer community that jurors who are accepted (by the prosecution) in a death…

A Little Texas Christmas story

My home is part of a homeowner's association of over 150 homes. The Board of Directors decided to use annual dues money to pay for Xmas decorations for 8 of those homes because they were on the canal, it would look nice, etc. I (and several other homeowners) objected simply because we did not want our dues money being used to subsidize a small fraction of the homes Xmas decorations, any more than we expected the Board to pay for our gardeners or other usual, ordinary, and/or voluntary home…

Question regarding this site

Is there some way to search for other members who are in your/our state? There doesn't appear to be, but, just thought I'd ask.  :)

Michele Bachmann

"When I pray, I pray believing that God will speak to me and give me an answer to that prayer, and so that’s what a calling is,” she told CBS News on Sunday, explaining that she had prayed about her decision to seek the presidency. “If I pray, a calling means that I have a sense from God which direction I’m supposed to…

NY:-----"Seven in Heaven"

The complaint of atheists with respect to the "Seven in Heaven" sign in NY honoring the fallen firefighters of 9/11 is just the type of thing that gives atheists a bad name. C'mon, let's use a little judgment in picking our fights.

   1. Anything from  which any disrespect towards those who lost their lives on 9/11 might be inferred, rightly or wrongly so, such as complaining about the subject sign, certainly seems ill advised and stupid;

   2. Even apart from…
