Have any of you  really thought about it?.........Do you want to be buried in a religious  cemetery, after all the things  we say about Theists......Many of us  do want to be interred with family members...but what about those  families that have disowned  their Atheist son or daughter?......Maybe  what we need is a place  for Non Believers  to rest in peace......How about   a green funeral  where  the coffin  disintegrates  easily into the surrounding earth to enrich  new life.....I do know  The American Humanist  Association...offers  to officiate  at an Atheist/Humanist  funeral service, but not sure  if there is a cemetery  just for  us.....Something  to think about.....I would  appreciate  your  comments.....

It's my plan to give my entire body to science for research and educational purposes.  I don't wish to have any type of religious-themed service but I would like to have a memorial party held in my honor.

Catered food with deli meats for sandwiches, salads, hors d'oeuvres, desserts, etc.

My favorite music playing.

Spoken works of relative poems and writings of my choosing.

A table with important photographs.

I do not want to be buried.  I wish to be cremated and the ashes scattered.  The planet can't sustain burial plots for everyone.  At some point there'd be too many plots and no available land for the living.

Also, the best land in every town near here seems to be used for cemeteries.  What a waste.

White Eagle Memorial Preserve in Washington state.  No toxic chemicals, no wasted concrete and steel crypts, no toxic chemicals pumped into my arteries and veins, no pesticide and other chemical laden cemetery, no carbon pollution from cremation, no maudlin ceremony which only supports the exploitative funeral industry.

I have cancer.  It is stable, but it's important to think about these things.  I have made this wish known, although I have not signed a contract yet.

There is a growing number of green cemeteries and green burial options.  It is not necessary to poison and pollute, to be buried.

There are also options for burial at sea, reasonable if you live near a coast.

I have thought about a memorial monument of some kind.  I've been thinking, a civic bench made of stone, with some sort of expression, such as mentioned elsewhere on Nexus, and my favorite, the words of Robert Greene Ingersoll...

Justice is the only worship.
Love is the only priest.
Ignorance is the only slavery.
Happiness is the only good.
The time to be happy is now,
The place to be happy is here,
The way to be happy is to make others so.
Wisdom is the science of happiness

But he also said a lot of good things.  So possibly, a more inspirational bench, would also include reference to Ingersoll, and honor him, with my name as the donor for the bench.
