Can We Please Get A New Solid Definitive Term For Non Belief Besides ATHEIST

This definition, misquoted, misunderstood, misused,  with many variations in different dictionaries, and as many are aware, has no counterpart in language. i.e. There are no aghost.

Almost since theism was given it's name, so to was the atheist. An understood opposite. Used primarily in a derogatory manner.

Yet for many this is not the case. Maybe for some but that's more of a hard view on it. I see it as any other supernatural phenomena. It's a cool story, don't teach it at schools or as fact unless it can be shown as fact.(testable, scientific, empirical...)

Maybe a hard definition agreed on by most dictionaries, a new term defining this thought is needed. Break the stigma of the archaic derogatory term?

I am an atheist, full stop.  I identified myself as an atheist back in 2010 when the first group of Jehovah's Witnesses showed up at my door, and I didn't blink when I did so.  Granted that my comfort level with the word was not the best when I first realized that I was one, but since that time, I have come to enjoy the "in-your-face" quality of the word.

If the theists don't like it, they have my permission to lump it.  I ain't changing for them (or anyone else).

True. I've always had trouble even saying the word. I've also found it difficult to find a substitue word. I've tried Saganist, realist, humanist, etc., but my main name is nonbeliever.

Any name we gave ourselves would be used as a derogatory term by the theists.

There are dozens of terms. Infidel, heretic, miscreant, goyim, nonbeliever, freethinker, latitudinarian, and so forth. (I don't have a thesaurus.)

I use atheist, freethinker, and secular humanist (as distinct from religious humanists, which do exist) in different places and times as appropriate.

It's the theists who have owned and given a negative image and condemnation to the word "atheist."  I'm actually quite satisfied to openly identify as an atheist.  I am part of a growing group of atheists who wish to reclaim the word from the clutches of the theists.  Atheist is not a negative term and shouldn't be treated as such.  It's time to steal it back from the theists and make it our own once again to positively describe ourselves.
