Richard, I think you made your point very well!

Personally, I think blasphemy is probably healthy.  Probably vents frustrations, calms the nerves, lowers the blood pressure and cortisol levels, and has an emotional bonding aspect.  Someone should do a study.

I would like to see more use of colorful, creative, blasphemous swearing.  I think the English do, or did, it better than we do.

Thank you, Daniel.

My point (and I hope I made it) is that we're not going to rid the world of religion if we don't challenge those who foist it on us. You thump your Bible at me, I'll blaspheme you back.

P.s.  Richard, I really enjoyed reading your Daily Kos article in your link.  I learned a few things.

In times like these, blasphemy, in fact, foul blasphemous swearing, is damn near medicinal.  Jehovah will not strike you down, Quetzalcoatl will not swoop from the skies and devour you, Mary will not drown you with tears, Ahura Mazda will not consume you with flames.  The gods are impotent, but their followers can be crazy.  Be careful around them.  They might beat you with their Jesus Christ on a stick.
