I've just been watching the South Park two-part episode "Go God, Go!"

I think it imparts some useful wisdom, but I'd like to see what everyone else thinks. You see, it's not that atheists are incredibly stupid, it's that PEOPLE are simply prone to worshipping whatever ideas are most appealing to them at any given moment.

How can we relate this revelation to our religious counterparts, whom I'm sure are good at heart. Well, for the most part.

Yes. Right on.

It's important to remember that we should never use the word "Sure" or the phrase "100%" There is no sure. There is no 100% There are only degrees of probability.

Not so in religious or dogmatic discussions. Maybe that can help us understand them a little bit more.

Unfortunately, someone who has a worldview where a deity created them specifically for a purpose are far less likely to view this belief as one among many very very similar beliefs, as opposed to someone who has a worldview that takes into account that ideas change over time, scientific or otherwise.

While I myself hold the current paradigms of scientific thought true, I fully realize that some discovery in quantum physics or biochemistry could change that easily. That line of thinking is very hard to accept when you are told constantly that what you believe is right and there are people out there who have different ideas, but they are all wrong regardless.
