I recently attended the American Atheist Convention in Newwark/Elizabeth, New Jersey. What draws you tot he Conventions? What keeps you away? What could they do to get you more interested?

If told you I partied with Brother Richard would you admit how unimaginably jealous you were?

I think we need more entertainment, official after-parties, and general night life activities. Help me help us all, give me your thoughts!

Part of building a community is COMMUNITY BUILDING. Which means drawing on the outside interests of the group to increase the group's interest in the group. Socialization events are very important- hence why official after parties have such a presence in today's social settings.

(As an aside: I have no influence over, or extraordinary access to, Brother Richard, in case that wasn't obvious.)

Very simple - The reason I go to conventions is to meet people, and hear from speakers - Anything that increases the fun and enjoyment of doing those two things is alright in my book.

(BTW - Partying with Brother Richard did rock... :) )

If I didn't have to fly across the continent, that would be a plus. Come to the beautiful Pacific Northwest!
I heard, somewhere on AN, about de-baptism. That sounds like a hoot! I'd pay to sit under the hairdryer of Truth and Reason!
