Wow, that gay men cutting straights to give them HIV while shaking hands is straight out paranoid. That fetus soup slander is nauseating. It's hard to imagine human beings who've had public education even contemplating such racist slander. Oh wait! I forgot lots of them are home schooled, so a medieval mentality isn't out of the question in 2013.

... perpetuating the belief that evil pervert liberals are targeting innocent children clearly matters more to the Christian right than stopping real-life perverts who are actually targeting children.

Obviously. Now I have to stop reading this article or I'll vomit.

This stuff is better than a standup routine at a comedy club. At least, it would be if the batshit fundies who walk among us didn't believe this crap. Unfortunately, there's a market for willful ignorance among the gullible. And, so long as that market exists, the hits will keep on coming.

I wasn't aware of most of those 10 conspiracy theories, but none of them surprise me. The problems with things like this are that people just don't think. Let me ad a few bygone items to the list.

When I was still a church going person we often had all night new years services to usher in the coming year. A man appeared out of nowhere on the podium blowing a trumpet and he shouted,"wake up, people!" Since nobody knew him, it was decided that he was an angel of god.

This next urban legend goes back into the 1970's. Hitchhikers picked up at random all over America suddenly blurt out "Jesus is coming soon" and they disappear immediately. This was taken to be God's angels spreading the word.

About the time She Ra, He Man, and even the Smurfs arrived on the scene, they were all taken by many to be "devil toys" and inventions to distract our unsuspecting little children away from god. Our children would then be worshiping demons unawares.  LOL

Who can forget those old music LP's that told you to "worship the devil" when they were played backwards? Fundamentalist minsters got off on this one and even had working and playing record examples on their programs. Just how you were supposed to play the music backwards is yet a mystery to me, but some ministers offered a modified player for sale just so you could see for yourself. What is strange here is that when I mention this absurdity to people today, there is always one or two that still believe it.

Another one was that Edison, a non believer, and reportedly on his death bed, was asked by his daughter which way to go - faith in god or no faith? Edison supposedly replied that the girl should have faith in god just as her mother had. That was the best way to go in life.

Even my insurance lady says that "we should all believe in god, just in case."

Just thinking about this stuff I'm ROTF LMAO, but I'll bet that others here can think of much more to say on this subject.

[He shakes his head and sighs] All this does is reinforce one thought in me: that these christians are scared and I mean SCARED SHITLESS ... that more and more people aren't buying their fairy stories, that the scare tactics about hell don't work any more, and, of course, that their numbers are dropping precipitously.  They're losing influence and power and they know it ... so they come up with even more utterly outrageous and absurd stories to tell in an attempt to frighten doubters back to the fold.  Apparently, they are so incapable of independent thought that they fail to realize how utterly ridiculous their new efforts sound to anyone who bothers to be EDUCATED, and who is willing to Think For Himself.

What you're looking at here is desperation, people.
