So, is there a drinking game based on how many time the candidates mention "God" and "Jebus" tonight?
I have a rant to rant and I'm just going to rant it without really editing it down...
The hypocrisy never ends in the C of C
Paraphrasing from the New Testament, Benedict decried "insatiable greed" and said "the love of money is the root of all evil."
"Have not money, the thirst for possessions, for power and even knowledge, diverted man from his true destiny?" the pope asked.
Benedict blasted modern society's thirst for these new "pagan" idols as a "scandal, a real plague."'
I'm so sick of religionists. I'm tired of the hypocrisy and the idiocies that fall from their mouths. I generally stay silent around my Christian religionist friends and they usually keep their proselytizing to themselves around me. Most of them know better than to do it around me because they know I'm not just an atheist - I am an anti-theist. So they keep their holiness bits to themselves. They know I will go off on their little exclusionary sects.
Not an anti-deist - I'm fine with my Pagan friends, they crack me up and they seem to be okay with that. I mean them no harm and they mean me no harm or ill wishes. In the end their beliefs break down the same as mine. My body breaks down into its individual parts and becomes one with the natural universe. They see it much in the same way, with some variations here and there. Occasionally we have some tiffs about trees and flowers, but the end result is always the same. Life is powerful and should be respected and embraced while we are here.
But, oh, those Christians. They certainly do hop to it, don't they? You can bring up a million other subjects that have nothing to do with religion and they are silent, but the minute you say anything negative thing about Jesus or religion, they start yacking.
They are so used to complete deference.
I actually had an Evangelical say that the Catholics are exclusionary. My head wanted to explode. The cult that started a couple of centuries ago with the idea that ONLY the people who accepted Jesus as their lord and savior could get in to see the God Head and all the rest of the people would burn forever in a lake of fire no matter how they'd lived their lives. Really. And that's not exclusionary? At least with other religions there are some escape clauses. With the Evangelicals you are in a very exclusive club. Yer awfully special. Yes, they say that anyone can join, and they honestly believe it.
Of course, it's looking through their Jesus colored glasses that they think they are an open and loving sect. They have just as many rules and caveats as any other good little cult.
Okay, that's the rant for this evening. I seriously thought my head was going to explode there for a second. Had to get it out.
