This is beyond tasteless, but what can we expect from the wide-eyed chinchilla-buggerers at Peta?

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to eat an entire fucking cow.

The problem I have with PETA is their tactics. To my mind there's not much difference between their rabid approach to their idea of protecting animals from harm, and that of the typical fundamentalist religious freak (any religion).

There's an overweening sense of superiority, a high degree of judgmentalism, and a belief that they are invariably right, and must see their points of view imposed on others at any cost.

Emotional terrorism, tacit support of physical terrorism, and contempt for those who disagree are hallmarks of their approach; while on the one hand they claim to be acting from compassion and concern for the lives they believe they are saving, on the other, they're clearly locked into a tribalistic, us/them xenophobia which is, under the best of circumstances, rather dangerous.

It's interesting, too (as Hessenroots suggests) that they're awfully willing to speak for others, even when there's no evidence to support the idea that those others want to be spoken for, at least not in that fashion. It's a bit like the US fundies and their obvious penchant for telling everyone how offensive a nipple is on television, or how endangered children are by the idea of gay marriage.

I know a lot of hostility is aimed at vegetarians. This is why. Peta and the ALF are propaganda machines at best and terrorist organizations at worst. If animal rights are important to you, then join the ASPCA.

Here, they describe "kosher" slaughter. The throat is cut and the animal allowed to die from bleeding out. It is the jewish tradition and is horribly cruel. The practice should be commercially outlawed. If someone wants kosher meat, let them slaughter it themselves, in their own kitchen. In the US, most beef is slaughtered by a pneumatic hammer that works faster than the senses. The animals don't feel a thing.
