"Ramsey County sheriff's deputies found weapons and devices to disable buses - among other items - in searches in the Twin Cities last night and today.
Authorities said the items came from "key members of the RNC Welcoming Committee," a self-described anarchist group.
A few press releases from the RNC Welcoming Committee' shed a little more light on this, from a different angle:

I've been planning on going out on Monday afternoon to get some pictures, meet folks and have a generally good time being civilly disobedient (in that polite, legal way). Up to this point I've assumed that there's a risk of being arrested simply as social collateral damage but if this is any sign of how things are going to be I'm not so sure about going. The show of force here is a bit unconventional for the area and the legality of the raid(s) and how it's been handled since seems dodgy. They've officially raised the bar and there's likely to be escalation from both sides...which frightens me a bit.
