I consider myself a Secular Humanist (political), Freethinker (historical & philosophical) AND an Antitheist (militant atheist). [Psst] Like that's a bad thing......

I no longer consider myself a Unitarian Universalist, ALTHOUGH I do respect the community, and I won't diss them. Also, I can never discredit my Zen Buddhism roots.

I can’t believe the wasted time here on A/N spent contemplating whether or not there is a god . . . how “certain” or “positive” one has to be to determine upon which side of the atheist/agnostic divide one stands.

The level of “knowing” or “not knowing” whether or not there is  a god is absolutely irrelevant to atheism.

Since god is an object of faith, the question isn’t how certain or uncertain you are that there is no god.

You may not “know” whether there is a god or not, but one thing you do know is whether or not you posses faith in the existence of god(s).

Keeping that in mind, here is a short, simple  quiz which will help you determine whether or not you are an atheist:

Do I have faith in the existence of god(s)?

If “yes”, then I’m probably at the wrong web site.

If “no” then I’m an atheist.

If, after all this, you still insist that god is a function of “knowing” or “not knowing” go to the Agnostic/Nexus web site, and leave the atheists alone.

I gave up UU too.  It was too woo woo, and sometimes to theist, and too friendly to "all faiths" - even the ones that are completely antihumanist.  And Antitheist is a good thing.  :-)
