Atheist billboard defaced on N.C.'s Billy Graham Parkway

"Unknown vandals unhappy about atheists' billboard in Charlotte, N.C., spray-painted "Under God" on the ad, the city's atheist association discovered Monday. The defaced message will remain in place until after July 4, the group reports, which is the soonest that workers can furnish a fresh billboard image."

Fresh new from North Carolina. Billboards have been vandalized, the words "Under God" have been added to a billboard that has "One Nation Indivisible". The latest of Theistic Slander against Atheist and/or Secular Organizations.

What should we do fellow Non-Believers? Shall we continue to sit by, or shall we do something about this vandalism?

Incidentally, if anyone wants to contribute to help us pay for the replacement, you can click on the link at the Charlotte Atheists and Agnostics website

As a member of a group that put up the billboard, I'm upset by the vandalism but not at all surprised.

The sign has now been restored but we're anticipating the next round of vandalism.

Electronic billboards are nice but this is what we could afford.

Pray that god strikes one of their giant jesus signs with lightning!

...oh right.

I have a thought here: should we be looking to get time on electronic billboards? THEY are a LOT MORE DIFFICULT to vandalize, and would put us more into 21st century media.

Besides ... can you imagine "UNDER GOD" showing up in the Hooter's ad that follows ours?!?

I love how most Christians don't realize that the term "Under God" was inserted into the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954, thereby making their vandalism both immature and ignorant. Bravo.

I think it speaks volumes about what we are dealing with. I have not seen anyone vandalizing billboards placed by theistic organizations, though I am sure it has happened but probably not by a secular organization.

I believe we should clamly move forward and not allow this to get the best of us. We should continue to make known to the general public that we are out here and we are not going away.
