radio mp3.mp3

Here in South Carolina there are more Jesus high power FM stations on the dial, than public, educational or commercial outlets.

So, why not an atheist radio show. Here is my introduction. I'm looking for a station or web host. Any suggestions?

Thank all for the input. I agree having a secular (atheist) show is going to be difficult to fund. I found even college stations run by the college kiddies (today much more conservative), is a pain. I got into hot water for having a man and his son on my show that were displeased with their forced circumcisions at birth.

I became persona wierd from that time on. The Dad apoligized to his son, and the next boy was left untouched.

There are so many great topics that would interest an intellectual audience, but the question, is America smart enough anymore to support anything but bread and circus shows. For example, Simply Ming (food) and Jerry Springer (Circus)

Well, as far as atheist blogs go, Dangerous Talk focuses more on arguments and ideas than many of the other atheist blogs I surf. My niche is that I love to argue with religious people and come up with new arguments.

Even in radio though, I talked about politics also. But the focus was more on atheism than politics.

WOIC 1230 AM in Columbia, formerly Air America, now runs mostly right-wing syndicated programming with a mixed bag of local programs (Lunatic-Libertarian to GLBT). They are offering local time slots at bargain basement prices. I've done some hosting with Tom Turnipseed ( and Frank Knapp ( and would be willing to discuss any offers you might make. My advice would be to go for listener support rather than commercial sponsors.

I did an atheist radio show on two different stations (97.1 FM West Chester, PA and 1520 AM West Chester, PA). I even recorded the show for internet listening. The thing is that shows require money and just as there is little to no money in atheist blogging, there is even less money in atheist radio. Atheists listen, but they don't support the each other with donations or even by clicking ads.

Atheist radio is also not good for radio stations. The stations get lots of complaints and they can't justify those complaints with revenue. If more atheists supported each other and atheist radio shows and blogs were money makers, then stations and advertisers wouldn't care about the complaints. There are a few internet atheist radio shows still around and if atheists support those shows more, then maybe they can take it to the next level. But it really is up to us.
former host of Dangerous Talk (which has now become a blog).
