I felt almost scared clicking the checkbox that said I was a non-theist when I signed up for Atheist Nexus years ago, even though I knew it was true. And how my heart pounded when I saw that big glaring red "A" that was my default profile picture!

Talking with Atheist Nexus folks helped me adjust to a new identity, and transition to a new way of thinking about life. Too bad the community doesn't seem to be as active as back then. But it is good to check in anyway.

Damned auto correct. That should be Alabama. Not slab. Lol.

I need to move to vt then. Ky is the most intolerant place I've ever been. Well.... maybe miss and slab are worse but I've only passed through them. It's all hell and brimstone here. Which is why I take such pleasure in wearing anti atheist shirts. I won't put a bumper sticker on the car though. Someone would key it.

Yeah, Round Peg, that is the sense i get every time i go there. Seems like tolerance is the rule and on top of that the green mountains. yeehaa

Hi Glen. I can only speak for Chittenden County where I live, which is less rural than the rest of the state and has other demographic differences as well. But yes, I find Vermont tolerant of atheists. Actually (it seems to me) in this area most of us are atheists. Of course there are plenty of Christian churches too, and some Muslim facilities as well - especially as more refugee families come here to settle from parts of the world where there are violent power-hungry nitwits running amok. But if there are tensions between religious and non-religious groups, I haven't really seen much of that. And actually I'm married to a lovely Seventh Day Adventist from Kenya. I think mostly people here just want to chill.

RP, am curious as to whether you find VT tolerant of atheists.

Good to have you back. As you can see with our group today, we have new members coming in all the time but only a handful of us actually do any posting. I'm not sure why that is. I would think that most atheists would have a lot to say.

It's nice to have you back. If only for a visit. Either the election or the holidays have slowed this site down. It's impossible to tell which it is.
