When you hear and read comments and arguments in favor of being a "christian nation," it's apparent that a lot of thoughtless people have merged together two separate concepts.  The first concept being that the country was founded on christian values by (mostly) theists endowed by their creator, and the second simple concept that since the majority of the population just happens to identify as christian, that somehow makes us officially a christian nation politically.  This is why we have the constant battle of fighting for separation of church/state issues.  These dimwitted people don't realize that a christian nation in its purest definition is a theocracy.

Interesting, especially in that the headline states:

Britain Is Not A 'Christian Country', Say 50 Leading Scientists, Authors, Academics

I wonder if the UK is looking down the barrel of the same argument we in the US have been struggling with for too damned long.  Indeed, it would be refreshing to see a group of American scientists call out politicians on the whole "christian nation" issue.  Lawrence Krauss has clearly done so, if not in so many words.  He should have company and LOTS of it.
