Smirking, many religious people seem to think that when we atheists get into trouble we'll cry out to God.  Really?  Recently, a big pain and all the symptoms hit me big time; I was having a heart attack.  The pain was horrible!  I couldn't even talk to 911.  Did I cry out to the imaginary God?  Did I say 'Oh God'?  No.  I said, 'Oh shit!"  I think that answers the theists!!!  What do you think?

Yes, I say goddamn all the time!  Same reasons; I curse "religion/imaginary god"...  There is a dif, crying out to imaginary god in time of stress...  Liked the jail story!  Nice way to dodge 5 years--- with the simple truth!  (AS to my heart nonsense; I'm now holding the smoking way down, gripe-gripe!  Exercising.  Oh well.  Diet.  Shucks!  Going to make it.  Whew!)

I myself say god constantly whenverver I get the chance.  When I was young my parents despite being mutually agnostic impressed upon me strongly that saying god in vain was akin to cursing.  Once I became an athesit I have said god ever since.  The word loses its power over time and it is a small yet personally important victory for me.  The word is, like other curses, not always used literally and it is thus not "showing them" that you did not say or think this.  What showed them was your lack of conversion or change in your beliefs.

"Hmmm. Quetzalcoatl, Zeus, Thor, Marduke." (Buzzer sound)

"With time running out, we now go to Jayne Meadows."

First off, I hope you are OK now after your heart attack? I've never had one but people keep saying "your time is coming." Are they wishing or are they jealous? Does everyone have heart attacks and is death always caused by one? If I had a heart attack why would I close my eyes and start talking to myself?

It's an old saying that "there are no atheists in fox holes." We can safely assume it is a war time saying. What this means quite simply is that "nobody wants to die." This statement brings us right back to theism and belief in god (or gods) to start with. Yes, everybody knows that God will save you if you know his name.

"Uhh. Heysu, Bob, Charlie." (buzzer sound.)

"Sorry. Your time is up, and now we go to Bill Cullen."      LOL
