It seems deontological systems of ethics and philosophy always act to cause practitioners to defer to the external standard bearer for their behavioral criteria. Duty based systems of ethics and philosophy have sent many to the gallows and the business end of the bayonet. As one grows and evolves can such conceptual training wheels loose traction?
