This was an amazing discussion and an opportunity to talk about an area that I don't get to talk about much - the trans community and problems and issues related to shame that creates such a hostile environment for those with a non-binary view of themselves and the world. This discussion may not sound relevant to you, but the issues are not unique to trans people. They pervade our culture and are a direct result of religious influence. My interview starts at about 30 min. but the first part is worth listening to as well.

My Calendar: I will be speaking at

1. the Sexy Secularism con in Akron, OH, Oct. 19

2. Reason in the Rock, Little Rock, AR, Oct. 26

3. Florida Humanists, Orlando, FL, Nov. 2

4. Doing a workshop, "What is Your Socio-Sexual Orientation" at Skepticon VI, Springfield, MO, Nov. 15

If you are in the area, I hope you will attend one or more of these great conferences.

Shame and guilt is something that a person should feel naturally if they know that they have done wrong and they regret their actions. Unfortunately for most of us, shame and guilt is something put upon you by adults from the time you were a small child. Certain idiots in society think that the proper way of training a child is to "shame" him into something. This is done to mold you and fit you into society if you are not the norm. This is a very handy "tool" used by the theist who hopes their children stay in the fold.
